"I would, but that's the problem. I never got the chance to develop my skills. You would however perhaps know my sister. Her name is Jade. We were meant to fight alongside one another but I was looked upon as nothing. Jade and her best friend Kitana went onto learn while I was held back and made useless. My sister never failed to love me, however our father saw me as a disappointment. I only wish he knew I was capable of being so much more if he had just let me," you frown, looking at your feet.

"I recall fighting a woman who carried a staff in the years past. Would that have been her?" He asks.

"Yes, that's her. Something or someone changed her...She never used to fight unless it meant something to her or to protect those she loved. I haven't seen her in a year. I pray she is still alive but I fear someone might have already got to her,"

"She is alive, I can sense it. I have a proposal, if you will hear me out," Scorpion begins.

"Please, anything. I will do anything." You beg.

"Meet me at the temple where my clan trains. You must swear an oath. You must swear your loyalty to me, and in return I will give you the strength you need to face Sub-Zero," Scorpion demands.

"I will be there. I am truly blessed you have even considered to help me." You reply.

"I do not give this oath lightly. If you swear it, you need to be dedicated to the cause, and understand the risks. No half- measures," he lists.

"What is the oath?" You ask.

"I swear my soul and service until my dying breath, that I will be the one whom the living must fear, the one to whom vengeance is owed."

"Good. There is one last thing." You look at the man skeptically.

"Remove your mask." He asks.

You remove your mask and look into his eyes feeling a sense of nerves in the process.

"Thank you." He then places his palm on your forehead.

"Now I will imprint the techniques you need to defend yourself onto your soul. It will be as if you'd practiced for many years, but the skills will come naturally in that first moment of danger. You will know you're ready when you feel the heat of a fire spreading between your palms. This training takes time to transfer, but I will visit you tonight and it will be complete." He says.

You nod your understanding.

"Very well."

You try to hide the small blush that crept it's way onto your face when you felt the tip of his finger touch your forehead. He really was magnificent up close.

After a moment, his hand falls.

"Be here tonight, at sunset. And do not tell anyone you have made this deal with me." Scorpion warns, his tone serious.

"I swear to keep this to myself." You bow once more, putting your mask back on and beginning to walk away.

He watches her walk away, then fades back into spirit form and disappears. At sunset, he appears above her house and begins to wait silently.

You walk out to see the sun setting. The light aluminates your face flawlessly as you walk outside. You search around for Scorpion who was nowhere in sight.

Although you could see him, his presence is felt all around you. If you tried to detect spirit energy, you would feel a strong aura of vengeance radiating from where he is standing. Then, as if he had stepped out of the shadows, you could sense something.
