"Your Mom isn't touring anymore,"  Theresa says as she pulls the car into park

"She probably won't be working for a while," she says before getting out of the car

What does she mean she's not on tour anymore?

"Mommy's just on a work break den," I say in disbelief

I crawl over to try and talk to her but she shuts her door

Mommy must want to spend time with me, no that makes zero sense.
If Mommy wanted to spend time with me then she wouldn't send me away to Daddy's house

Theresa leans against the closed door for a while before she helps me out, slipping my backpack onto my back.

"Okay. I have your duffel bag you have your backpack. Is that everything?" She asks taking my hand and starting towards the front door

"No," I huff forcing tears away with my free hand

"What did we forget?" she freezes

"Mommy," I say letting the tears come pouring out as I look up at her
"Oh Kiddo," she cooes

She walks me up the front steps and Theresa rings the doorbell

"Theresa. I'm n-not going in dere unless you tell me why I can't be with my Mommy," I try to bargain while crying

"Your Mommy. Your Mommy, she's just a little sick at the moment," she says

"What?" I say quietly looking up at her

"No, she- she not sick," I cry right as Daddy opens the door
"NO! SHE SAID SHE WAS GETTING BETTER!" I scream tears rolling down my cheeks and ripping my hand from hers

"SHE PROMISED!"
"SHE PROMISED ME!"

"Hey," Daddy says I snap my head to look at him
"Princess. What's wrong?" He asks softly
"Daddy," I sob as I run to him

"Princess?" he says picking me up

"Mommy's sick," I cry into his shoulder

"What?" He says, clearly as confused as I am
"I think we should come inside," Theresa sighs sadly

"She was meant to be all better," I cry

(Three hours later)

Theresa put me to bed before going down to talk to Daddy and Hailey.

She left pretty soon after their long conversation.
Dad and Hailey have been fighting since then

I'm trying to ignore them but it's hard.

What if they're talking about Mommy,

I carefully hop out of bed and tiptoe to the top of the stairs holding Mr Bananas close to my chest

"That's not what I'm saying!" Hailey whispers

"It's sure what it sounds like!" Dad says back
