I was sitting on the ground in the middle of the forest with an old can between my legs while burning inside it my favourite chocolate chip cookies, so I would "communicate" with my mother but with no luck. I never understood the meaning of doing something like that, but I never missed a chance to at least get my mother's attention. My goal every year for the past ten years was always to get her attention, but I never did. It was like she pretended that I didn't exist or something, and I never understood why. I mean I was her only daughter after all! Was she embarrassed of me because I was a mistake, she shouldn't have made? I mean, she wasn't supposed to have children and then had me! Was she embarrassed of me?

"Hey Mom" I said looking at the last cookie I had put in to slowly being burnt, and I sighed while resting my head against the tree

"I know that you are probably not listening to me right now, but you are the only one I have left, you know" I said feeling the tears in my eyes and a tiny sob leaving my mouth

" I received a letter that Aunt Julie died a few weeks ago. You know Dad's sister! The letter said that she died with a smile peacefully in her sleep because she knew that she was going to see her brother again." I said, wiping a tear that rolled down my cheek at the memory of my favourite aunt. I hadn't seen her for years, and it made me hate myself that I wasn't there to say goodbye to her. Also, I learned in the letter which was sent by an unknown writer that she tried to fight for custody of me when dad was gone, but something made her change her mind and I supposed that mom got into her brain or something and changed her opinion. I stopped talking for a couple of minutes, and instead, I stared at the lake in front of me, completely lost in my thoughts

"You know what, I got bored" I said, picking up the can and turning off the fire before I stood up. I got bored with waiting for my mother to answer me because I knew that she wouldn't. I mean she didn't for ten years, why would she talk to me now anyway? She never did, and that was just a waste of my time anyway.

I was walking back to my cabin when I heard voices from the bathrooms a few meters away from me, and I walked towards it with a curious look on my face while wiping the last tear that was rolling down my cheek. I was just a few steps away from the door when I realized to whom the voices inside the room belonged and decided to do something before Clarisse and her siblings do anything bad to Percy like they always do to the new kids

"Do you think you are special?" She asked the moment I entered the room and Percy's eyes fell on me, which made the three other people who were in front of him also look my way

"Well, actually I find myself rather awesome, but I wouldn't say the same for you. I mean, if you feel like bullying little kids by making your siblings beat them up makes you a badass then good for you" I said crossing my arms with a smirk on my face, and she gave me a deathstare. I knew she wasn't going to hurt me because we were on the same team at Capture the Flag, and I was the reason we won several times, but she definitely looked pissed

" I will give you a chance to leave now Lockwood" She said looking at me angrily. I scoffed while looking at her with an I-am-not-going-anywhere-look, but before I was able to do or say anything, one of her siblings took my bow and the other one held me back while she and her brother guided Percy towards the toilet. They tried to push Percy's head inside of it while telling him to say that he made up the story about the Minotaur, when suddenly the water from the toilet came crushing to them and threw them against the wall. Some water came also to me and threw away Clarisse's sister. We were all looking at the destroyed stool, surprised before they ran out of the bathroom with terrified looks on their faces not believing what just happened

"That was awesome Perce" I said looking at the young boy who was looking around with a confused look when I heard footsteps and saw Annabeth entering the room and leaning against the wall while looking at us with crossed arms

" How did you end up here?" I asked, but Annabeth didn't answer to me. Percy was still looking confused about everything and sighed before turning to both of us

" I can explain," He said, but Annabeth shook her head, completely disagreeing with him

" No you can't" She said and Percy nodded while saying a silent "okay" still looking at Annabeth before he looked like he just realized something

" Wait, I know you," He said, and Annabeth shook her head again, disagreeing with him and still looking with the same curious but also serious look at the blonde-haired boy. But before she was able to answer him, I decided to wait for them to finish their not-long conversation out of the bathroom. Annabeth was the first to exit and then when Percy came I volunteered to walk him back to his cabin

" Thank you for saving me back there" He said looking at the ground. I smiled while putting my bow in my back after I checked that it was alright

" It is nothing! I know how it feels to have people pick on you and I want to stand up for people because no one else did it for me" I said while remembering my first days here when the same people who just bullied Percy did the same to me and no one stood up for me because of how scared they were by Clarisse

" What is capture the flag?" He asked after a few minutes of not talking and I smiled

" Well it is a game we play here every Friday, but I cannot tell you more because we are not on the same team buddy, and it will be like helping the opponent win the game" I said with a smirk on my face and he smiled.  The moment we arrived at Hermes's cabin, we found Luke sitting outside reading a book. When he noticed us, he put the book next to him and stood up. Percy wished me goodnight while entering the cabin before Luke walked up to me

"What happened, are you alright?" He asked, looking at my wet clothes with a confused look on his face

" Well, you can say we had a small adventure in the bathrooms, but everything is fine. I mean no one was harmed except the stool" I said with a smile remembering what happened and how Clarisse and her siblings left the bathroom with terrified looks when Percy splashed them with water

" So how did you know what go?" He said, pointing to the empty can in my hand. I looked at it before putting it in my bag

" Yeah, the usual! You?" I asked, turning to look at him again, and he sighed while rubbing the back of his neck

"Same" He said, and I nodded with a sympathetic look, getting how he felt at the moment because it was the same for me. We were just staring at each other for a few minutes when he took a step closer to me and I looked into his brown eyes while he was looking into my blue ones. A weird feeling appeared in my stomach when he raised his hand and put some hair that was falling on my face behind my ear, but before I realized what I was doing, I took a step away from him

"Well, goodnight then, and I hope I beat your ass tomorrow Castellan" I said with a smile trying to hide how nervous I got when I felt his cold hand on my skin. He took a step back looking at the floor before letting a small laugh leave his mouth

" You wish Lockwood"
