Choi Yeonjun and Choi Beomgyu were inseparable.

They did everything together—hung out with their friends, dance lessons at the same studio, had common shared family dinners because they were just so close. Their bond was like a chain—tightly welded together with care. People always knew that the two were off doing something together, whether it be walking around in the courtyard on break period or going out to the arcade after cram school. The dynamic duo.

They had their fair share of shared secrets, and also secrets they didn't tell each other just yet. Nevertheless, the pair of boys supported each other quite vividly.

For example, when the word went around that Beomgyu was gay, Yeonjun wasn't mad at the other for not telling him—instead he was more worried about Beomgyu handling the rumors around school. His care for his best friend was endless. There wasn't anything that could drive a wedge between their carefully arranged friendship... right?

High school came around. Nothing really changed, and they met new friends. Everyone from their old school came along and transferred into the same high school, so it was an easy transition. Because of this, the two brought Huening Kai and Taehyun into the picture. The pair were similar to Yeonjun and Beomgyu.

Close friends, similar in age. Everything was going well, until Beomgyu realized that he was starting to see his relationship with Yeonjun becoming a little more than just best childhood friends.

Sharing and feeding each other food, sleeping and cuddling, kisses on the forehead... That freaked him out. He was so lost and confused with himself. Beomgyu knew that platonic relationships were a thing, but he just felt so good and loved whenever Yeonjun did it, and not other people, like Kai (He made Kai give him a lil smooch on the forehead). But that never once showed on his face, as he acted naturally anytime Yeonjun was within a 30 ft radius of him.

Yeonjun on the other hand, saw nothing wrong with what he was doing. See the issue yet? You could say that Beomgyu wore rose-tinted glasses and was a painful optimist...

"Beomgyu, I think I like Soobin." Yeonjun blurted out, as the two were cuddled up on the couch. This had startled Beomgyu, who had been drifting off in Yeonjuns arms as the older light scratched the top of his fluffy hair with his nails. It was any other casual Friday, and rain was pouring down. The two had decided to go over to Yeonjuns after school and watch movies.

This was no surprise from the pairs activities. They were originally supposed to be joined by their friends. Yeonjun had invited their other friends to come, but they were all pretty busy this particular weekend.

He had looked at his phone in disappointment, and said, "Soobin can't make it." That made Beomgyus heart hurt. He loved Soobin, but they weren't dating, so he shouldn't feel this way. Forget about it, right? In the end, he's the one cuddled up with Yeonjun getting his head scratched.

Beomgyu was glad that the lights were off, because his face visibly morphed into horror once the older revealed his feelings. He further pressed his head into the other's chest, tightening his grip on Yeonjuns sweatshirt. Yeonjun looked down at Beomgyu, awaiting some words, or teasing...but they never came.

That was odd. He didn't feel the soft shaking and sobs that rolled through his best friend.  Instead, they sat in silence as the movie played on, Yeonjun resuming his head scratching. Beomgyu was crying silently, his tears staining the other's sweatshirt as he hold loosened. Eventually, he got up to get water and turned the light on so he could see. What he didn't know, is that Yeonjun had spotted the tear marks.

This moment would be in Yeonjuns mind from the minute he found out through the moment Beomgyu took his last breath. Yeonjun held onto Beomgyus hand for countless days, silently wondering if there was anyway that he could have just one moment with Beomgyu.

His Beoms.

His Gyu.

He had wasted all his time on pining over a guy who even knew what he was doing wrong, and hadn't notice the small cry of help from his best friend.

The same best friend who pushed away his love to help Yeonjun ask out Soobin.

The same one who consoled him after Soobin said no.

The one who would have lived longer, if his love had been returned genuinely.

The one who died of a reoccurring broken heart.

Yeonjun realized only when Beomgyu was gone how empty he felt.

No longer would the boy jump on his bed.
No longer would Beomgyu poke fun with him.
No longer would he attend dance classes and partner up with Yeonjun.
No longer would "good morning" and "good night" texts come through.

He would never let go to Beomgyus memory like he did the physical soul.

. . .

"Hey this is Beomgyu, leave a message and I'll get back to you asap!~"

beeeeep.

"Hey Beoms... it's Jun-Junnie...

... Its been 6 years since your Last Day, I love and miss you."
