summary RED SHOUPE WOULD LIKE NOTHING MORE than to say nothing had changed much since she and the pogues jumped off 'The Coastal Venture' and boated their way to the island they'd been calling home for the last month.
But, of course that would be a lie. Because a lot had changed. Did she really expect everything to be perfect? Maybe. Was it? Sometimes.
Not that the pogues and Red had time to hang out and get to know each other or anything. There was always something going on. Weather that was getting shot at by all sorts of people or running away from God knows what. Either way, it was all about the gold. Red felt like an outcast to the groups traditional accustoms.
For others new found pogues, Bennie Thornton to be specific, it wasn't hard to fit in even in the slightest. Maybe it was the fact that she was pogue blood and Red wasn't, but it was still hard to see how well she got comfortable compared to logical and turbulent Red Shoupe.
As for JJ, Red didn't even know how to put into words how lucky she was to have him. But of course, there was something wrong. Someone wrong, if you will. Red had known how close Kie and JJ were, but in there time on the island, it because crystal clear to Red that Kie was the one JJ really deserved even though she loved him. That was what she thought about most. It was just never apparent to Red if JJ thought so too.
There was only one person in the whole world Red could talk to, and luckily, he was on the island. It was that Red and John B weren't close before their arrival, but since then, John B really got Red as much as Red got him. It felt good. There was no doubt that he was her best friend.
But she loved JJ even if he didn't love her. What can't bad communication lead to?I guess we're about to find out, right?
