summary AFTER THE MYSTERIOUS DEMISE of John Booker Routledge, Red Shoupe was drained and lost. She wasn't sure how to cope as the only other person who had passed in her life was her mother and she didn't cope at all with that, she just put it to the side, so that's what she did.
On top of John B's loss, Red was also in the middle of transferring schools because she was being picked on by fellow kooks because nobody believed that John B didn't kill Peterkin. So Red transferred to the pogue school when it became too much for her.
Only a week after John B's death, JJ called things off with Red because they both had too much on their minds and were too busy dealing with their own baggage.
Although Red didn't want to, she agreed, knowing that it was the best for him because he needed time to heal just like everyone else.
After that, Red didn't talk to the pogues much besides the occasional "hi" or "hello" in the hallways of Kildare High, but that wasn't enough for anyone.
It was like Red lived on a different planet of hidden sadness and the urge to be alone so she couldn't be hurt ever again.
But nothing is predictable in so called "Paradise on Earth"
