John's POV

All Night. All Night I watched painfully as the girl I should be with danced with her boring, snobby boyfriend.

'Look, John boy you fancy her go up and speak to her' Arthur says

'It's not that easy' I say

'And how's that?' Arthur says

'She has a boyfriend' I say as I down the rest of my whisky

'And plus she's our little sister's best mate' I say scowling

'Hasn't stopped you before' Ada says underneath her breath

'You can't talk you had a baby with Freddie! Tommy's best mate since Primary School' I say

'Oh shut up John! Just because you're scared to go up to a girl doesn't mean you can take it out on me' Ada says

'What's up with you anyway? You're a cocky bastard when it comes to girls' Tommy says

'She's way out of my league' I say

'Look I'll go get the boyfriend and you take your chance and speak to her' Arthur says getting up to speak to her boyfriend

I get up confidently and I walk over to Rose

'Hey Johnny boy' Rose says smiling. Oh that smile is the most beautiful smile I have ever seen

'Just wondering how my favourite girl is' I say putting a new toothpick in my mouth

'What are you after?' Rose says suspiciously 

'Honestly, just wondering how my favourite girl is' I say smiling 

'Want a drink?' Rose says

'Sure' I say 

'Can I get two Irish whiskeys please' Rose says to Harry 

'Coming right up' Harry says 

'So how's ur wee snobby boyfriend treating you?' I say

'He is not a snob!' Rose says shocked

'Ok, maybe he is but he's attractive' Rose says 

'Does he treat you well?' I say

'There's been a couple of times he's lost his temper but nothing happened' Rose says making me think that something has happened

'What do you mean lost his temper?' I say 

'Well, when we argue he gets overly angry' Rose says 

'Has he hit you?' Tommy says from behind Rose making Rose jump

'No!' Rose says quickly 

'Just be careful I don't like the look of him' I say 

Rose's POV

I'm at the bar speaking to my best mate Ada when my boyfriend Rob storms up to me

'Why does the blonde Shelby keep looking at you?' Rob says pissed off

'What do you mean?' I say confused

'The one that always has the stupid toothpick in his mouth' Rob says 

'John?' I say 

'Yeah him' Rob says 

'Well, I'm best mates with his sister and he's always been overprotective of me and Ada. Every peaky is overprotective of every girl in the business' I say 

'It's just annoying because he's staring at what's mine' Rob says 

'Well it's fine ok because I'm with you' I say 

Rob walks away to speak to some people he's become friends with since being here

'Rose, I know you won't like hearing this but I think Rob's getting to be a bit controlling' Ada says 

I look down at the bar just staring into my empty cup  

'Has he laid his hands on you?' Ada says 

'You can tell me anything' Ada says placing her hand on my shoulder

'He has but it's only happened once' I whisper

'Rose, I'm sorry' Ada says immediately getting up from her chair and hugging me

'When did it happen?' Ada says gently 

'Last week' I say 

'Wait what?' Ada says 

'The mark on my jaw was from Rob' I say

'Are you joking?' Ada says pissed off

'Please Ada don't' I beg

'Rose, he needs to be dealt with. The mark he left you with was horrific you can still sort of see it' Ada says 

'Please just don't tell the boys' I say 

'If you don't tell them I will' Ada says
