"What's all this about figure skating and Mr Ivanov's son" He yelled,

The girl's eyes widened as she gasped,

"I... I"

"Miles, go, let me take care of this" Nevaeh whispered as she grabbed his hand, her eyes pleading with him,

"Fine" He grumbled before making his way downstairs,

"Are your friends still here?" Nevaeh asked her in a whisper,

Paris nodded,

"Come on baby, come in" Nevaeh said as she opened the door to her own room,

Nevaeh sat and patted the spot beside her,

"Sit, please" Nevaeh smiled at her daughter,

Paris sat down cautiously,

"Now take deep breaths and tell me what happened, take your time" Nevaeh whispered as she caressed the girl's curly hair,

Paris obeyed, letting out a shaky breath before she started to explain,

"So you only skated once?" Nevaeh asked when she was done,

"No, I went back after school and on Saturdays too" She whispered,

"Why didn't you tell us?" Nevaeh paused as Paris looked down at the ground,

"Why didn't you tell me?" She added,

"I'm sorry mama, I didn't think he'd actually offer me a scholarship" She whispered,

"It's fine, I understand" She whispered as she hugged her, kissing her forehead,

"Do you want the scholarship" Nevaeh asked,

"I do" Paris answered,

"Why? I thought you liked the public school"

"I... I just want to make you proud" She whispered,

"Oh honey, this isn't about me..." Nevaeh sighed as she pulled away from her, holding her hands,

"This is your life, your future, you should do what you love to do because one day, I won't be here anymore and you'll be stuck doing whatever you've chosen, so maybe you should think about it" She whispered,

"Okay" Paris sighed,

"And you should probably tell your friends that you might leave them soon" She whispered,

"I will"

AFTER DINNER

"So, Paris?" Nevaeh whispered,

"Yes mama?" Paris answered,

"Did you tell your friends about it?" Nevaeh asked,

"Yeah" She shrugged,

"What did they say?" Nevaeh asked,

"They were sad but they later agreed on supporting me as long as I didn't replace them" She chuckled,

"Do you still need to think?" Her mother asked,

"Yeah, can I take a walk?" She answered,

"Sure, just don't wander off too far, and take your pocketknife, don't be scared to use it, call me if things go south" Nevaeh whispered as she kissed the side of her head,

"Thanks mom, I love you" She smiled,

"I love you too"
