CHAPTER 18

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I dash over to the oven to pull out the cookies.

"There all done!" I yell to Jonathan who is sitting on the couch.

Jonathan walks in.

"How could you even learn how to skate when you are three?" I ask in disbelief.

"I don't know. My dad just gave me a pair of skates and said have fun." Jonathan answers.

While the cookies were baking we talked about Jonathan's past.

"But you can barely walk when you are three!" At least I think.

Jonathan's hand goes to get a cookie.

I walk over to my phone to see what time it is thinking that Jonathan needs to leave the cookies alone because they need to cool down.

"Ouch!"

I whip back around do around to see Jonathan examining his finger.

"The cookie burnt you didn't it?" I ask with a sly smile on my face.

I walk over to the sink and grab a paper towel wetting it with cold water.

"Put this on the burnt spot," I instruct handing him the paper towel.

"Thanks," Jonathan smiles.

"Didn't your mother ever make you wait and let the cookies cool off before you ate them?" I ask.

"Well, yeah, but I really wanted a cookie,"Jonathan says.

"Try it, was the burn worth it?" I say handing him a cookie.

Jonathan takes the cookie and puts it into his mouth.

"Yep, definitely," He laughs.

I join in with him. Jonathan is just a fun guy to be around with. I really shouldn't have ever gotten mad at him.

What if we didn't make up? I wouldn't be here right now. We wouldn't be hanging out. I would have never made this batch of cookies or I would have never been in a nicer apartment than this one.

Jonathan and I waited for the cookies to cool off. While we waited we talk about different stuff.

"I think the cookies are cool." I say to him.

"Try one and find out," Jonathan answers.

Pick a cookie and pop it in my mouth.

"Yep, they have cooled off!" I say, "Try one!"

I grab a cookie and hand it to him. Jonathan eats it and agrees.

I take all the treats off the pan and put them in a container then I start to wash the pan.

"Andrew and Chaunette are suppose to be here any minute," Jonathan says.

"Yeah, you're right, it is five," I answer.

I rinse off the pan and dry it off.

"Jonny, we're coming up" a voice says that neither mine or his.

Jonathan walks over to the box and presses the button.

"Alright," He says.

"So who are they?" I ask.

"Andrew, a player on the team and his girlfriend Chaunette." He explains to me.

"And you're just having them over to eat?" I ask.
