"Noona, look! I made a flower for you!"

You turned around to find your little brother holding out an origami flower at you. You smiled and grabbed the flower from him. It wasn't perfect for sure. There were a few areas which needed improvement, but it was the thought that counts.

"How sweet of you, Ha-joon," You said and placed the flower on the table behind you.

Currently, you and Ha-joon were at your apartment alone while your parents were out at work. You were studying in your bedroom when your little brother decided to pop in and give you the flower he made.

Your father was Park In-su, General of the South Korean Military. Your mother, Park Eu-hwa, was a doctor in the military. That was how they grew acquainted and eventually formed their relationship and marriage.

"Noona, when will Mom and Dad be back?" He asked, moving to sit on your bed.

"You know how busy they are, Ha-joon," You reminded him.

"But we haven't seen them for a few days," He frowned.

Ha-joon was only ten years old while you were just eighteen years old. It isn't easy having to take care of your younger brother while juggling your studies and your health, not to mention that your parents were rarely home.

"I'll call Dad soon and ask him when they're returning, okay?" You asked with a smile, trying to assure your brother's worries.

"Okay," He nodded his head.

"What do you want to eat? I'll order it for you," You said and grabbed your phone.

"Fried chicken!" Ha-joon instantly answered and rushed to stand next to where you sat.

You laughed and turned to ruffle his hair, "Okay. From your favourite shop, hmm?"

"Yes!" He smiled at you.

You went ahead and ordered some food for yourself and Ha-joon for dinner. Ha-joon went back to his room afterwards, probably playing his games on his console.

You sighed and closed your textbook before pushing it to the side. You leaned back on your chair and closed your eyes temporarily, resting your eyes. You were studying hard to become a doctor like your mother since there were unsaid expectations of you. As the daughter of a soldier and a doctor, you were bound to choose one path. However, you were forced to learn both.

You studied to become a doctor but your father trained you hard to protect yourself. Since you were a woman, it was extremely important that you knew self-defence at the very least since South Korea is not 100% safe.

Suddenly, the sound of your phone buzzing on the surface of your table snapped you from your moment of peace. You sat up and picked up the phone, moving it to your ear.

"Hello?" You spoke first.

"Y/N-ah," Your mother answered.

"Oh, Mom," You said. "What is it?"

"Your father and I will be back home tomorrow. It's been a hectic week," She told you, and you could hear the hint of fatigue in her voice.

"Alright. Ha-joon missed you both," You stated.

"We miss him too. Tell him we'll be back soon," She replied. "See you tomorrow, Y/N."

"Bye, Mom."

With that, you ended the call and placed your phone aside. You let out another sigh and looked around at your table before spotting a framed picture. You grabbed it and smiled as you looked at it.
