Down in a valley four hundred miles away was a volcano, but everyone there thought it was inactive.

Screams were heard when a lady who was milking her cow saw smoke, fire, and ash bubble up out of it.

 "Ah, help, help!"

No one paid any attention to her.

The lady removed her shoes and escaped aboard the cow.

    The servant collapsed from exhaustion.

Meanwhile, the princess, goblin, and mouse were safe in the cave.  The king's men were alarmed when they smelled something harsh and saw steam rise.

"Oh, sire, there is a great distressing odor in the air."

        "Men, what ails you?"

"Sire,  we smell burnt ash, fire, and brimstone."

"Yes, sulfur appears to be in the air."

The king was not sure what to make of the announcement.

What happened to the maid and the cow?

"Men, go in search at once for the missing servant girl and the white milk cow, Daisy."

         "Yes, king, right away."

The men went to look for the missing servant.

The girl had fallen off the cow and landed in the dirt.

The men searched but could not find her.

The princess awoke when she heard a groan.

She noticed the mouse and goblin were still asleep.

    Who made that noise?

She looked and saw a cow standing a few feet from the cave.

        The cow mooed.

The princess checked to see what was the matter.

        Marinette approached the cow slowly.

She gasped when she saw the girl on the ground because it was her sister.

      "Jane, are you alright?"

      "Jane?"
