Part 13 : Affianced

Start from the beginning

Sharda, who had taken a step ahead towards them, was bewildered by her mother's reaction. Her mother had been aloof to Aniket throughout their ride from airport to home. She had been frightened for a moment that she would snub Aryan and no one would take it well. She was about to intervene but Meera surprised her by embracing Aryan.

"Hone wali Dulhan se miliye, Naani."

Ashi's voice brought her out of trance. She moved away to greet Shivangi.

"Kya hua?" Aniket nudged Ayaansh who wasn't ready to leave his side. Ayaansh shook his head but didn't budge.

Aniket handed him a package.

"Kya hai, Bhaiyu?"

"Khol ke dekh le, genius."

Ayaansh rolled his eyes but brightened up as soon as he looked inside the package. It was full of dark chocolates. A lot of varities as well. He looked at Aniket with twinkling eyes. "Mere liye?"

"Nhi teri girlfriend ke liye," Aniket mocked.

"Arey, aap apni wali ke baare me socho, Bhaiyu..." Ayaansh teased.

"Beta, meri toh sagai ho hi rhi hai. I'm set." Aniket drawled. "Tu apna dekh. Jaisi teri harkatein hai, kahin tujhse pehle Aru ko girlfriend na mil jaye"

Ayaansh punched him on the shoulder. "Kaise Bhai ho yaar aap,"

Aniket whacked him. "Bade Bhai ko maarte sharam nhi aati tujhe?"

Ayaansh scoffed. "Aap jo Bhaiya se itna ladte ho?"

"Abey, mere Bhaiya, tujhe kya mai kitna bhi ladu? Haq hai mera!" Aniket whacked him again with a glare

"Bas bhi karo, Bhaiyu.." Ayaansh glared back at him. Aniket smiled. Gone was the boy who used to bawl his eyes out at their glares!

"Maa, please! Iss baare me koi baat nhi karte hai."

Meera looked at her daughter with evident disappointment on her face. "Sharda, tu sabse jyada pyaar karti thi na Arnav se? Ab kya ho gya? Kyun tu use dhoke me rakhna chahti hai..."

"Koi dhokha nhi hai, Maa!" Sharda snapped back, her patience being held on thin thread. "Arnav ke bhai, uska pariwar, wahi uski zindagi ka sach hai. Koi dhokha nhi hai yahan. Uske liye uske pariwar se badhkar kuch nhi..."

"Pariwar? Kon sa pariwar, Sharda? Pariwar apno se banta hai aur apne woh hote hai jinse humara rishta ho. Khoon ka rishta. Kuch nhi lagte woh Arnav ke..."

"Woh Arnav ke sab kuch hai, Maa!" Sharda stated the obvious. "Humara koi haq nhi banta unke rishtey par sawal uthane ka. Woh tab Arnav ke saath the jab koi nhi tha. Jahan hume hona chahiye tha wahan Aniket tha Arnav ke saath. Agar yahan koi paraya hai toh woh hum hai.."

The elder woman's eyes clouded at the harsh reality her daughter had splashed on her face. Sharda saw that and reached for her mother guiltily. She shouldn't have shouted but her mother was being unusually stubborn.

"Aapne jo bhi suna, bhool jaiye, Maa." Sharda pleaded. "Usi me sabki bhalai hai."

"Arnav ko sach janne ka haq hai, Sharda. Use pata hona chahiye.."

"Aap samajh kyun nhi rhi, Maa?" Sharda argued impatiently. "Arnav ka pariwar hi uski zindagi ka sach hai. Bohot pyaar karta hai woh apne bhaiyon se, Ayaansh se..."

"Wahi toh mai keh rhi hoon, Sharda." Meera cut her off. "Mai jaanti hoon woh Ayaansh se bohot pyaar karta hai. Ayaansh uska apna Bhai hai. Isliye Arnav chah kar bhi khud ko Ayaansh se dur nhi rakh paya. Aise hote hai rishtey..."
