Will They Be Alright?

Mumbo's Perspective-

Despite it being only a couple hours, it felt like a whole day had passed without a sign from Kisha.

I was worried sick about her.

"Do you think she'll make it?" I kept asking.

"Mumbo, you need to chill." Pearl said, making me sit down.

Their parents were fine with me and Scar staying over, but all we were doing was annoying Pearl.

"You two both need to chill." They said.

"I'm fine!" Scar said and Pearl rolled their eyes.

"Sure you are."

Scar grumbled and they laughed.

"Mumbo, come calm your boyfriend."

I sighed and sat down next to Scar, who leaned his head on my shoulder.

I blushed.

"Do you think she'll do it?" I asked.

"I'm sure she will. She's stronger than you guys think." Pearl said.

"But- "

Pearl shot me a look and I shut up.

"But how are you not worried? Grian's your literal brother!" Scar said.

"I'm worried, I just don't show it."

Scar snickered.

"What?" Pearl asked.

"I just- I don't know, it just made me think of people internally screaming."

Pearl chuckled and I smiled, kissing his forehead.

"But seriously, how are you feeling about Grian being in all of this?" I asked.

Pearl looked down.

"I'm scared." They said, "I know he hasn't had the best life, and I want him too. And now he's gone in a different dimension and...I gotta be honest, I don't even understand all of it."

"Neither do we." Scar said.

I nodded.

"It's all a lot for us and for him." I said.

"It sure is. And I'm just...worried about him. He doesn't always think highly of himself and beats himself up a lot." Pearl said.

Scar took a shaky breath, and I wrapped my arm around him.

"It'll be okay."

"Will it though?" He asked, "What if he doesn't make it?"

"Kisha will not have that happen." Pearl said, "I know she won't."

"But isn't this stupid? We just shoved your best friend into the lion's den to get our boyfriend!" Scar said.

I looked down.

It sounded a lot worse when he said it aloud.

"I can't believe this." I muttered into my hands.

"Hey," Pearl clapped in our faces, getting our attention, "Kisha and Grian will be fine. They are both strong and can make it through safely."

I sighed.

"I hope you're right."
