Jaelene's POV

Five months pass and it's now my last day of junior year. I woke up more excited than I've been in a long time and got ready for school. The excitement was kinda pointless though because it was finals day. After my last test, I met up with my best-friend, Brandon, so we could walk home together.

"How was it?" He asks. I roll my eyes as I move my long blonde hair to one side and hold onto the straps of my backpack as we walk. "Boring. And Keith kept trying to look over my shoulder for the answers in fourth period."

Brandon chuckles, sliding his hands in his front pockets. "Well Karma served him. I heard Kailey tell Brooklyn that Mrs. Rivera let him take the whole test and when he went to turn it in, she ripped it up in front of him and made him take it again after everyone went to lunch."

In shock, my eyes went wide as my mouth made a perfect "o" shape. I then giggle, "Good! I'm glad he got caught. I'm definitely not going to be anyone's free pass into college because of good grades." Brandon chuckles again and bumps his shoulder into mine, "Damn straight."

My hands interlock in front of me as I sweetly ask, "What did I do to deserve you?"

"Oh I don't know...maybe cause Ellie Cordera called me a chicken head on the first day in kindergarten so you pulled her hair and made her apologize."

The memory flashes briefly in my mind making me giggle, "Ohhh yeahh! I remember now! Oh my god, and do you remember Bri's face when he found out?"   Brandon laughs out, "Dude was so mad! He thought I was a bad influence on his baby sister from the start."

"Now look at us." I say brightly looking into his crystal blue eyes, "Two peas in a pod." Brandon throws his arm around my shoulders and smiles. "Always and Forever."

"Always and Forever." I repeat, leaning into his side. Anyone who didn't know we were best-friends would've thought we were in a relationship with how close we are. But we promised each other a long time ago that we wouldn't go down that path. Why mess up something great with a new relationship title always wondering if it's gonna suddenly end.

A few minutes of walking later and we were in front of Brandon's house. We said our goodbye's and I kept walking a few more blocks to the red door I hate so much. Once inside, I listen for any noise...none, which only means the sperm donor in out for the night and the wicked witch is either in her room or at church. She shouldn't even be going to that holy place, spreading her lies. Mother always tells her little "friends" how Brian and I are the light of her life and how she has the perfect family. Little do they know what really happens here.

I start cooking around four after doing some spring cleaning in my room. Now that school is over for the summer, I don't have much to occupy myself with. I drain the cooked noodles and add sauce and meatballs when the front door knob rattles and the sound of keys swarms into the kitchen. My posture straightens as I prepare for the worst. "Jae? I'm home, baby girl."

My body relaxes to my brothers voice as I look towards the door. "Hey. Just in time. Dinner is done." I plate food for the both of us and we sit and eat, talking about our days. "How was today? Think you aced all your tests?"

I nod while swallowing my food and taking a sip of water before answering, "For the most part. I think could've done a little better in Bio, but my brain was fried and I just really wanted to get out of there."

Brian laughs as he removes his vest and places it on the back of his chair. "What about you? Did they torture you some more?" I ask, eating half of a meatball. Bri glares playfully as he sips his water. "You would enjoy that wouldn't you?"

"But of course. Your suffrage is my entertainment. It's what helps me sleep at night." I state jokingly. My brother chuckles and before he could say a word his phone rings. They were calling him in for an unexpected emergency, but promised to pay him double if they can pull whatever they were working on off.
