EXTREME DELIVERANCE

did you know some stars eat their own planets? i asked
my mother, who, on the verge of a supernova, looked
at me like a vulture at a dead thing.

Yemoja was in the room when she exploded, blood
and flesh splattering the black walls, the black floor,
and my black face, prismatic light piercing through me
like a bullet but somehow i did not die.

her blood against my skin was warmer than her eyes
had ever been; what kind of daughter would i be
if i washed her away? & what choice did i have but
to nestle like a newborn animal beside the remains
of my creator, covered again in her fluids, delivered
because something else collasped?
