Max did not expect who he would be facing when he went to pick up Angel. He did not prepare himself to face her parents. When the door opened, he almost shat himself at the sight of Rafael Mendoza.

The father was not smiling, he stared at the Dutch driver for a good minute before a woman hit him in the head, "Do not scare the young man away." she said before looking at Max and smiling, "I'm Jessica, come on in." she said as she pulled Rafael inside.

The driver gulped and followed after. He gripped the white tulips in his hands, as he walked in further through Angel's hotel room he tried to calm himself down.

"Look what you've done Rafael." Jessica said making Max to look at him. He smiled and gulped as she spoke again, "I'm Angel's mom. Let me just get her, Raf." she said looking at her husband.

Rafael was still watching Max, but in a more relaxed look. Jessica rolled her eyes and pinched his side, "Aray! Ma naman!" he grumbled as he rubbed his side. Jessica snickered, "Be nice." she said before excusing herself.
(

Translation:"Ouch! Really Ma?")

This left the two men in the room. Not one daring to start a conversation. Max didn't know what to say, he knew of the past between him and his father. He didn't want to get on his bad side anymore just by being a Verstappen.

But Rafael cleared his throat, "Would like to drink something? Let me just warn you I only have whiskey here." he said with a short chuckle. Max hummed and nodded, "Just a little, I am driving the two of us." he said, chuckling as well.

Max wanted to test the waters and luckily, he succeeded. Rafael smiled and nodded, "Good choice." he said as he led the young man to the kitchen part.

Rafael grabbed the whiskey bottle and poured the two of them a small glass. Max placed the tulips on the table as he accepted the glass. They both took a sip, Max not knowing what to do or say. And the father felt that, so he spoke.

"I spoke with your father Max." he said. The driver looked at him shock, "Oh. Sir, I just want to say sorry with whatever my father-" Rafael raised his hand making him stop.

He sighed and shook his head, "My daughter is right." he admitted for the first time after getting to talk with his old friend. "The mistakes and fights me and Jos had is between him and me. We should not have meddled with you two." he said.

Max looked at him, his shoulders relaxed and let out a sigh of relief. Rafael smiled, "I just have one request." he said.

The Dutch driver nodded making the father smile, "Take care of my daughter. She's the only one I have." he said seriously. Max let out a breath, "I would love to do nothing more." he started.

Rafael watched him as he continued to speak, "Meeting her was something I never expected. I promised myself to not open up like before. I know you saw old tabloids and articles but that was a one time thing. It wasn't every day and I can prove it to you.

"But when she did not give up on getting to know me and for me to open up I realized how special she is."

Max did not realize how Jessica and Angel was standing behind him. The mother was smiling with tears in her eyes while the reporter stood in awe. Rafael saw his girls behind Max and hummed.

The father looked at Max again, "Let's not make it just words alright?" he said as he motioned to behind him.

The driver turned and was shocked to see the mother and daughter there. Jessica smiled so wide as she walked to him. She cupped his cheeks, "Make sure to keep your words okay? Angel is a bit emotional sometimes-" "Mom!" Angel cut her off and walked to Max.

They all chuckled as the reporter blushed. Max who finally calmed down and was feeling confident grabbed the tulips and offered them to her.

Angel's face softened and her lips turned up into a smile. "Aww..." she muttered. Max hummed, "They didn't have yellow tulips but this fits well with your dress." he said complimenting her white dress.

She chuckled, "Thank you Emi." she said as she accepted the flowers. Placing some on a vase as she kept some in her hands, "I'm ready to go!" she said excitedly.

Max smiled, "You bringing them?" he asked. She nodded, "Yeah. They're so pretty aren't they?" she said as she looked at her parents. Rafael smiled and Jessica nodded, "You two better go, you don't want to miss your reservation." the mother said.

The two nodded and walked to the door. Before they could leave, Rafael cleared his throat. They looked at him and he was smiling at them, "Have fun."
