"I thought you broke up with me. We just left our relationship on hold, and I thought you were fine with discussing it, but when you never answered me, I thought you were ghosting me and broke up with me..."

"What? No! Why would I- why would I ever do that?" I asked, reaching for his hands.

"Uh- Martyn? Is this the guy you told me about? The one who broke your heart?" Ren asked.

Martyn looked embarrassed as he moved his hands away from mine.

"Uh- y-yeah. This is...this is him." He muttered, trailing off.

Ren narrowed his eyes as he stared at me, and I smiled nervously.

"Rick, I- "

Martyn cut himself off as the main Watcher teleported in and pinned me down to the ground.

"You little sneak. You think you can get away that easily?" He growled.

Fuck.

He snapped and we both teleported to his main room.

Two Watchers pinned me down as he got up and pulled up the portal to my home.

"You want that, don't you? To go back with your boyfriend? Well once you're a Watcher," He wiped his hand over the portal, erasing it, "You stay a Watcher."

"NO! MARTYN!" I screamed.

But it was gone.

All of it.

My home was erased forever.

My dad.

My friends.

My boyfriend, Martyn.

It was gone.

I started to cry, and the main Watcher scoffed.

"Shut it, Rick, it's useless anyway. I erased my home."

"Yeah, but you're heartless."

The main Watcher shrugged, "I wouldn't say heartless. But I do believe in things that hold you down from your full potential. So come on, Rick. I'll give you a choice. You can either go back to your mission, and complete it, or you die."

I death stared him and then sighed.

"I'll go back."

The main Watcher smiled sickly.

"Perfect. Now remember- "

"Yeah, yeah, convince Martyn to come here and don't mess up or else that dimension will get erased."

"No, make sure Martyn becomes a Watcher, or you die. And make sure not to do anything that you would do at home."

I hesitated and then nodded, "Right."

"Good!"

The main Watcher snapped, and I felt myself get teleported to 'my' bedroom.

Martyn, apparently, had his mind erased of everything that happened after I sat down on my floor.

"I- ..." Martyn took out the letter he got earlier from under my lunchbox.

He started to hand it to me when I said,

"Wait."

Martyn titled his head, confused.

"Martyn, I'm so sorry." I said, moving closer to him.

He flushed red, "W-what are you doing?"

I took a deep breath, trying to calm down the tears threatening to fall.

"I love you." I whispered.

I then leaned in and kissed him.

I don't care what'll happen.

I don't care if I died.

I love Martyn.

And I always will.

And I wish that I could go back in time.

And stop me from ever talking to Grian and helping him up from that fall he had in the hallway back at the beginning of 9th grade.

So if you don't understand what Rick was saying in the end there, he was explaining how Grian made Rick trust him and then end up becoming a Watcher. At least, in Rick's home dimension. But that's why Rick's kinda stayed away from Grian.

And I'm still mad at y'all's comments about Rick being evil WHEN IT REALITY GRIAN MANIPULATED RICK AND-
Ugh I just got so mad. I know a lot of you guys apologized and I forgive you, but like rereading this scene made me just so mad at you guys for misunderstanding. But idk, maybe it's my fault for not writing his character well :/

Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to let me know and I'll answer (well I'll answer the questions that don't require me to spoil the story) bc this was kinda like a confusing chapter so let me know if you're still puzzled

And have a good rest of your day! :D
