I just tell her what our Mum used to say, before she left us to go live with her new husband, 'Good things come in small packages' Mary would just give me the finger which I would laugh at because one thing Mary doesn't do is swear, she’s a little goodie-two-shoes.
When I turned round I saw her laughing again at something Kurt? I think, the gay one had said, and I felt a familiar smile cross my face, one that was just for Mary. Mary had always been the closest to Mum and was heartbroken when she left. Sometimes I feel that if Mary wasn't around for me to look after, I might have taken off years ago after Mum left, but I would always look after my short, loveable sister, no matter what. My older brother Lucas and sister Sophie, who are also twins, were taken with Mum and her new husband and neither of us had spoken to them since.
When she stopped laughing, I finally spoke "You sure you don't want to come? Jake said Mike might be there." winking at her with a smile on my face. Mike is another one of my close guy friends, but he likes Mary. Alright it’s not like Mary is unattractive because she is hot. Most of my guy friends think so, but she is a little bit of a nerd, okay a big nerd, but Mike's different from over guys he sees through her nerdy shell into my sister inside.
"No Sammie, you know John will be there and I can't face him, not yet" she said softly. I sighed. John. He and I had been friends with benefits for about three months before he started to go out with Mary, and then I found out I was not his only friend with benefits and Mary wasn't his only girlfriend. Yeah, I know gross right. Don't blame me! He was quite the charmer and he would always turn up at our house sad and upset. I would comfort him and one thing would lead to another.
"He may not be there, I heard Brittney saying he was grounded at lunch," I said brightly. She smiled at my failed cover story, because Mary knew that I had had detention at lunch time, which she made me go to. I groaned, "Okay, but that might be true" she laughed, and I smiled. "Please come, you’re my best friend, I can't go to a party without my best friend!" She rolled her eyes. She was the only girl that I was actually friends with. Well except Sophie back before she left. Sure I talk to others but they didn't understand me like the guys or Mary do.
"I can't, I have math homework to do, and come to think of it, so do you!"
That was when I ran, I was out of the door, and running down the hall faster than you could blink. I could hear her laughter coming from the open doorway.
"Have fun!" she shouted. I shouted bye before I shut the front door. I jumped on my bike, and kick started it in one swift movement flying away from the scary word of 'homework'.
I swerved in and out of traffic, car horns blaring as I passed, people yelling crude comments but being left in my tailwind with a raised finger as my comment. I dismounted and put my motorbike with Jake's around the back, when I arrived. While I was walking back round to the front I saw Mrs. Jacobson, Jake’s next door neighbour, dancing along to the music blasting out of Jake's open windows.
I couldn't hold in my laugh and she spun around when she noticed me. Her eyes became wide and her cheeks flushed red. "It was amazing! Good to know you like Music!" I said with a wave and walked off. As I reached the door, I saw Jake and a blond girl practically getting it on in the hall. As soon as Jake saw me over the blonde's shoulder, he dropped her like a sack of potatoes and came up to me.
