Scars of Strength & Fear

I nodded.

"But we don't even know all of the pieces to the puzzle." I said, "Grian told us a lot, but not everything. I know he's keeping something under the wraps."

"Yeah...I wish he could just trust us."

"Trust is a big thing. And he might not be comfortable with it, just like how you weren't comfortable with telling me the truth with your name."

Scar looked up at me.

"Oh yeah." He said before thinking.

"Do you think if I tell you two the truth of my name, he'll tell us the truth about what happened?"

"I don't think so. His is a lot more touchy than yours."

Scar looked offended.

"Oh, so you're saying that getting ABUSED by your family and having the neighbor call the police and have your parents get arrested, and then you get adopted by your neighbor isn't touchy?" Scar snapped.

My eyes widened.

"Is- is that how you got your- "

"Scar. My neighbor and mom renamed me after my real parents got arrested. She named me 'Scar' because of all the scars I have from my actual parents."

"Oh my cod, Scar, I'm so sorry." I said shakily.

Scar sniffed, "It's fine."

"It's not." I said, hugging him.

We sat there for a moment, the only sounds being me trying not to cry and Scar crying.

"When did this happen?" I asked.

"I was 7."

"Oh."

Scar nodded, shuffling away.

"Hey, if it makes you feel better, my parents were going to name me Patrick."

Scar chuckled, "You kinda look like a Patrick."

"Hey- what?! I do not!" I shouted, acting like I was mad.

Scar giggled and smiled at me.

"Thank you." He said, smiling softly.

"But you're a Scar... You can't be sweet and cute at the same time." I said, looking at him out of the corner of my eye.

Scar laughed a little at my joke. He caught my eye again and I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, I wanted my first name to be Sean or Max- I thought that was cool, but she hated that idea." He said, shrugging his shoulders, "So she came up with Scar. It's kinda funny the way it happened."

"And how was that?"

"I was watching TV in the living room when my mom needed me, but instead of using a pet name, she just called me 'Scar'. I don't know how, but I responded to it immediately."

"Weird how those things happen."

Scar nodded, "It is."

We then fell into silence as we looked at each other.

"I love you." He whispered.

I felt my face go red and he crooked a smile.

"I love it when you blush and look all cute and flustered, I love it when you help comfort me, and I love it when you listen to me talk. Most people just rant to me, never listen."

"Well, I am your boyfriend, I think I'm supposed to do those things."

Scar chuckled, "But you get what I mean."

He scooted up to me and he put his hand on my cheek.

"You're...perfect."

He kissed me softly on the lips and I smiled against his lips, kissing back.

"I love you and Grian so much." I said as we broke apart.

Scar smiled, "I'm glad we did this. I don't want you to feel left out."

"Neither do I."

"And neither do I."

Me and Scar jumped and looked over at the door and saw Grian there.

"Grian!" We both smiled, a bit embarrassed.

He giggled, "I heard all of your cheesy talk."

Me and Scar both turned red.

"I love you guys." Grian said, kissing both me and Scar on the lips before sitting down next to us and taking a deep breath, "But I do have bad news."

"Oh...what's wrong?" I asked, assuming that's why he was here.

Grian took a deep breath, "You know that Rick guy?"

Me and Scar both nodded.

"Well, he apparently knew Martyn close enough to know about the Watchers because...well, I'll show you."

Grian took out his phone and showed us a text message from Rick, asking if he and Grian could meet up and talk.

"You think it's about that?" I asked.

"I'm pretty sure. I mean, Scott did say that Rick went over to Martyn's house yesterday." Scar said.

I turned to Grian, "Well Grian? What're you gonna do?"
