"Excuse us for a moment, while you continue discussing," she suggested, rising from her seat and approaching Xiao Zhan.

"Absolutely, dear. Take your time," Li Ying's father agreed, encouraging his daughter.

With gentle guidance, she helped Xiao Zhan to his feet.

"Are you okay?" she asked, filled with concern as they exited the office.

Xiao Zhan nodded, his voice barely above a whisper. "I feel sick inside."

As the door closed behind them, Xiao Zhan couldn't help but overhear his father's true motive for the arranged marriage, leaving him with a profound sense of being used and the persistent fear of rejection looming over him.

They found refuge in the lobby of the floor, where Li Ying gently guided the anxious omega to a comfortable seat before taking a seat across from him.

With an assuring smile, she began to speak, her voice filled with sincerity. "I suggested going overseas as a way to postpone the wedding, hoping it would alleviate your situation," she confessed. "I'll do my best to extend my stay there, giving you more time to figure things out," she added, her gaze unwavering as she looked at him.

Xiao Zhan managed a tight-lipped smile, his head slightly lowered. "I'm sorry for involving you in all of this," he apologized, a hint of remorse coloring his words. "I'll do everything I can on my end," he promised, determined to shoulder his part of the burden.

Li Ying smiled fondly at the omega. "Don't apologize. I'm glad I could help you," she assured him. "I'd do anything for you," she added with a gentle chuckle.

She then hesitated for a moment before continuing. "You know, initially," she began, "when I first met you, I was instantly captivated," she admitted.

Xiao Zhan's head shot up in surprise, his memory racing back to their first encounter. "But we had just met," he responded, genuinely puzzled.

She laughed, a hint of embarrassment coloring her cheeks. "Yes, I know. It must sound like love at first sight," she blushed, "but when we started talking, I realized I had truly fallen for you," she confessed.

Xiao Zhan was taken aback by her sudden admission. "Wow," was all he could manage to say.

She quickly added, "I didn't mean to tell you this to gain any favor or sympathy. I just wanted to be honest about my feelings," she clarified. "When you mentioned having a lover, it was clear to me that I didn't stand a chance. You looked so in love when you spoke of them," she continued, "so I decided to support you in any way I could," she concluded, her voice filled with a mixture of resolve and understanding.

A single tear welled up in Xiao Zhan's eye upon hearing her words. His heart ached for the female alpha, yet he also felt immense gratitude for having someone as compassionate as her in his life.

"Hey, don't cry," she chuckled softly, her fingers reaching out to gently wipe away Xiao Zhan's tears. "We can't have your pretty face all messed up," she playfully teased, producing a handkerchief from her bag.

Xiao Zhan pouted in response but then stood up, surprising the alpha with his sudden movement. She looked up at him, puzzled by his actions. However, her confusion vanished when he opened his arms.

A wide, appreciative smile formed on her lips as she stood up to mirror the omega's gesture. She understood his unspoken request and pulled him into a warm, tight hug, gently patting his back as he sobbed in her embrace.

"Thank you!" Xiao Zhan cried, his emotions a mixture of sympathy for her and gratitude for her unwavering support. He leaned into her, finding solace in her comforting presence.

"You're always welcome!" she chuckled heartily, continuing to rub his back in an attempt to soothe his tears.

As they stood there, their fathers exited the office and came upon the two of them embracing. She noticed their presence and patted Xiao Zhan's back to signal that their fathers' meeting had concluded. The omega lifted his head, wiped away his tears, and turned to face the two older men with a forced smile.

"I'm glad you two are getting along!" Xiao Zhan's father announced, casting a meaningful glance at his son, silently urging him to convince her to stay so they could proceed with the wedding.

Xiao Zhan averted his gaze, refusing to acknowledge his father's unspoken message.

"Yes, they've become fast friends," the older Zhao commented, beaming proudly at his daughter, as if commending her for her efforts.

"Well, as much as I hate to interrupt your bonding time, we must be on our way," he said to his daughter.

She reluctantly released the omega from her embrace, but before she stepped away, she offered him a reassuring smile. "Everything will be alright," she said softly, patting his back one last time before joining her father.

"We're going to take off now. We'll see you again someday," her father bid farewell to the older Xiao.

"Yes, we look forward to it," he replied with a forced smile.

As they turned to leave, Xiao Zhan's father furrowed his brows and clenched his teeth, directing a stern gaze at his son.

"You better convince her," he said firmly, the intensity of his stare making his expectations clear.

Xiao Zhan remained silent, neither accepting nor declining his father's directive, his thoughts and emotions in turmoil.
