3. Engagement

I was laying in my bed while thinking about what my father had said, i really wanted my mother's belongings and her flat which I have only seen once by chance , my father doesn't want me to have them but when I get to know about it all i always asked him to give it to me but he always said no.

The flat is closed and in that place resides all the belongings of my mother. When I first got there I was only able to get a pair of jhumka (ear rings) and I adore it so much imagining how my mom would have looked in them.
I sat on the bed, If and only I will marry him then I will get them they are the only thing I want from my father.
I opened my phone and messaged my father
"I will marry him but you have to promise that you will do as you have said"
After some moments he replied
"You have my words"
A lone pair of tears escaped from my eyes.
I sighed and went back to sleep which I was barely able to so I opened a book and started reading for sometime until I fell asleep.

Next morning.

I came down from the stairs and saw all of them at the dining table having breakfast. I went past them to drink water. When vedika said

"Congratulations my dear sister" i rolled my eyes

"Hmm" I said

"Arushi have some manners she just wished you and you little brat" my grandma burst out

"Yes ma ji she forgot all her manners till she stepped out of this house and started studying god knows what" my aunt said adding fuel

"Correction chachi It is not 'god knows what' it is medicine which requires a lot of brain" I said smiling sarcastically at her

"Arushi don't talk back come have breakfast, look how things you look and what will they think after seeing you that we can't even feed you" she said

I sat down silently not wanting to engage in any drama

"Your engagement will be held after 3 days" my father said my eyes widen i wanted to say something but kept quiet with my poker face

"Arushi I heard my soon to be brother in law Vivaan Rajpoot is so much ruthless and very cold hearted but yes you are such a good girl you will handle him right?" Vedika said with sarcastically while I said nothing

Anyway I never imagined my father to find me a saint, my happiness doesn't matter to him the only thing that matters is money.

The whole time my brother was silent he didn't even talk to me or to anyone about it, it is not like my brother hates me when we were young he always used to treat me a little better than other members but idk what happened to him as we grew up he distanced himself from me, he treats vedika better than me now like she is her real sister.

I want to talk about it to my brother. Maybe he can help as he is now the COO of the company, maybe he can understand there was still a little hope.
After eating we all went to our respective room after gathering a lot of courage i went to him room and knocked
"Come in" he said
He was sitting on the bed with his laptop
I cough a little to gain his attention
He glanced at me and then again to his laptop
"I want to talk to you" I said
"
Speak"

He said
"Bhaiya papa has fixed my marriage to some Vivaan"

"Hmm so?" He said

"I don't wanna get married please talk to him about that" I said

"What can I do, go talk to him don't disturb me" he said without even looking at me

"I tried but he blackmailed me with mother's stuff" I said with a low voice
