I can't believe I used to spend most of my time in this house and now I haven't been here in a few months.

Is this what you call unrecognisable change or swift change?

"Reese!! How long do you plan on standing out here. I was giving you time to come in by yourself but at this rate we'll be waiting for eternity."

Amelia said as she let me inside.

No matter how long I stay away from this house, whenever I come back, it always has the same warm welcoming air around it.

"Where is Godmother?"

"She finished cooking then went to get ready for a doctor's appointment. She must definitely be in her room."

"Okay. I'll go up to see her. And don't tell anybody am here."

"Yeah, yeah. I won't tell Drew you are here."

She said giving me a wink as she walked away.

I seriously wonder where this one was collected?

"And you better say hi to Brody on your out because he has been asking about you non stop. Am starting to wonder if am the daughter of this family or you are."

"Godmother?"

I knocked on her door and I heard her say a 'come in'

"Reese!!'

Oh my gawd I had missed her hugs.

"You don't look too good."

She looked exhausted.

"Well, Reese, when you reach my age, you don't look young anymore."

Judging from the wet hair, I would say she's just from the shower.

"Why are you even here sweetheart?"

She asked as she directed us to her bed to sit down.

"Can't a loving, caring and not to forget beautiful goddaughter stop by to say hi to her favourite godmother."

It was true. It has been a long time since I checked up on her. I am seriously worried about her.

"Am your only godmother."

"Not with that attitude you won't be."

"Then I'll just have to believe you. I missed you a lot. Am sorry I wasn't able to drop by this past few weeks."

"Don't worry Gloria, now I have my aunt's who nag me 24/7. You need to worry more about your health.
Tell me, how are your treatments?"

She gave me a big smile and I swear I felt like moving in with her.

"They are exhausting and I can feel that it's not changing anything but---"

"But you still do it for your family....when all you want is just to die."

It was clear that she did not want to fight anymore but nonetheless she still wears that big warm smile as if everything is okay.

"It's hard. It's exhausting. It's painful. I love my family but sometimes I wanna close my eyes and not open them ever again, does that make me a bad person?"

"No it does not. If you wanna die then you should do it, and am not even joking. My only dream in life is to become super filthy rich but I swear the day that I feel I can't do it anymore, I'll stop and no amount of persuasion is going to tell me otherwise."

Of course I did not want Gloria to die. But I also did not want her to live a life which she is in pain everyday.

"Are you telling me to die?"

"No, of course not Godmother, I love you and I'd never want to lose you. Am just saying, you have been living in pain for so many years it's okay to think about what makes you happy."

After I swiftly changed the topic, we spent time chatting about everything and anything.

"You have to stay for dinner. I already made it I just have a quick doctor's appointment then I'll be back before you know it."

"I would love to but if you haven't noticed, your son and I aren't on speaking terms so I would rather avoid him as much as possible."

"What did he do? I swear I'll smack him real good."

It was nice seeing her take my side like this.

"Oh no no no. It is totally my fault that we are not speaking but---"

"Honey, I told you to be ready---"

Gerald? What is he doing here? I thought they were supposed to be in Paris with dad?

"Godfather? What are you doing here? Did the trip finally end? Is dad also back?"

Nothing good ever came from the glancing they were giving each other and avoiding eye contact with me.

"Where is dad?"

"Reese can we ---"

"I asked where is my dad?"

He let out a deep breath.

"He is in LA."

"Okay then why are you here and him in LA?"

"I never went with your dad to Paris."

"Wait, he's been managing all the meetings alone? Why didn't you guys tell me, I could have helped him out a bit."

Am pretty sure he is super exhausted.

"Reese, there was never a business trip. The official business trip ended months ago."

"Are you saying that my own father was faking business trips so that he can be away from me?"

My own father was avoiding me?

"Reese, he just wanted some time to catch up with everything since work never allowed him to."

"You mean he wanted some time away from me. He has been gone for almost a year if not a year and yet he still wants time away from me?"

"Reese---"

"No, no. I understand. Am so glad I ran into you. Were you seriously planning to keep this from me forever. What if he decides he doesn't want anything to do with me? How were you going to explain that to me?"

"Reese, your father would never abandoned----"

"Well he did. He left me. Cast me aside like am nothing. You cannot imagine how painful this is to me."

"Can we sit down and talk about this, please?"

"It's okay. Am okay. I was even just leaving. Don't worry about me you should go. Am going home."
