A Teacup's Oath

I am a teacup,

tiny but true,

and to betray a fellow cup I shan't ever do.

My eyes shall be on my friends at all times

because I'd rather be blind than leave a cup behind.

I must refuse when being enticed

to be rude to a cup instead of nice.

Because I know better to keep in mind

mean words hurt. Best to keep those inside.

I cross my heart and hope to die

if I don't help a bruised cup, a friend of mine.

I know very well I'd like to be nicely treated

if I'm ever chipped, dropped, broken, or beaten.

But I swear to not whine when I am damaged

though I might have been badly managed.

I am a strong cup,

good and brave,

and my handle high I will hold up.

Loyal to my owner I'll be even when injured,

and I promise I'll try to always be ginger.

I am a teacup,

tiny but true,

this Oath I shall keep. I promise. I do.
