"What's wrong, Baby?" Putting on the fake smile she had mastered in the last couple of months. She kneels to her son's level.
"How do I look." Nathan grabs the ends of her hair, twirling it around his finger, admiring the beautiful brown color.
She brings her hand to his hair brushing it to the side. "You look so handsome." There is a hint of sadness in her voice, but you would never detect it. Katherine takes in the presence of her youngest son, allowing herself to feel a sense of happiness.
"Dad said it's time to go." The small boy looks into his mother's eyes, one being green while the other has a light shade of brown mixed in.
"We don't want to keep him waiting now, do we?" Katherine teases, standing straight, feeling his hand slip into hers, holding it tight.
"No, we do not." Nathan tugs her and him out of the main bedroom to the staircase.
At the bottom, all of the Wright children were lined up from oldest to youngest, each in fancy attire. It makes their mother's hearts swell, but her stomach hurts, ruining the moment.
"My babies," Katherine whispered to herself, walking further down.
The sound of Katherine's heels hitting the wood floor catches their attention, and all of their heads turn to look, some with smiles and the others with a monotone expression dreading having to go to this event.
"You look amazing darling." Miles trailed off.
Katherine doesn't respond instead she keeps her focus on the children soaking up each and every one of their appearances. It wasn't every day that the Wrights were in the same place anymore. The eldest of the kids had their lives going on now. Their life no longer revolves around the family anymore.
"You look beautiful Mom." Oliver shared creating a real smile on his mom's face.
"Thank you."
"Okay, Oliver you will take the older three the rest of you are with me and Mom." Miles directs opening the front door and allowing the kids to go first.
Katherine watched them all walk out and couldn't help but wish this moment could last forever.

There Katherin stood in a room filled with people who were having their own conversations but she felt like there were eyes on her. Like someone she can't see was watching her every move under a microscope.
"Mom." Katherine flinched whipping around to see who was calling her name.
"Are you okay?" Katherine's stare landed on her second-oldest daughter. Alexandria was looking at her mom with confusion written all over her face.
When they usually went to this type of event Katherine made sure to go around the room and introduce herself to anyone new or say hello to those she already knew. But this time she didn't. She had been standing in the same spot watching everything unravel around her.
"Yes. Yes, petal I am. I'm just not feeling up for talking to people at the moment." Alexandria wasn't convinced by her mom's words. "What did you need baby?"
