"I can't believe we're going to Firle Place," Adeline exclaimed, pulling a fresh batch of her famous cookies from the oven.

About a week ago, Charles came up with the idea of visiting Firle Place during the Formula One summer break. And since Adeline took some time off from work and had no courtroom obligations, she was more than happy to agree with her boyfriend's idea. Although Firle Place served as the primary setting for Adeline's beloved movie adaptation of Emma, she had never visited it. Plus, Hazel and Pierre were supposed to join them, and Adeline simply couldn't wait.

"We're gonna have the most amazing picnic. I just know it," Charles said with a warm smile on his lips as he observed his girlfriend placing the cookies into a plastic container. He leaned in, attempting to snatch one of the cookies, only to be met with a playful slap on his hand.

"Stop!" Adeline chuckled, her focus fixed on arranging the cookies neatly inside the box.

"Pretty please," Charles couldn't help but tease, a smirk playing on his lips as he enveloped Adeline in a back hug. His gentle lips brushed against Adeline's neck, sending an instant shiver down her spine. Adeline closed her eyes, tilting her head to grant Charles better access as his lips playfully explored her neck. Suddenly, she felt the way Charles' hands left her hips and snatched the cookies.

"That's cheating. You're breaking the rules!" Adeline burst into laughter, turning around to face Charles, playfully taking a bite from the cookie he had stolen.

"I don't follow the rules," Charles shrugged with a smirk on his face. His dimples had never failed to weaken Adeline's knees over the past two years.

"Really? Please, tell that to the FIA and give them back your title, World Champion of 2023," Adeline tilted her head, a playful glint dancing in her eyes.

Charles shook his head with an amused grin. "The track is the only place I follow the rules," he said, but then he quickly looked at his watch, almost as if he had forgotten something. "We should get going. Can you please call Pierre and ask him if he really has that picnic basket? I'll go change," he added, a sense of urgency creeping into his tone.

"Sure thing," Adeline nodded, heading over to the table since her dress lacked pockets for her phone.  She didn't know why Charles was suddenly in such a hurry. On the other hand, Firle Place was over a two-hour drive from their apartment in Mayfair, London.

Having two homes proved to be the perfect solution for Adeline and Charles. Monaco held an irreplaceable place in Charles's heart, given his close-knit family ties, memories, and enduring friendships there. Adeline had a similar affection for Monaco and had no intention of asking Charles to leave.

Fortunately, Adeline's work didn't demand her constant presence in London, but she still had commitments to fulfill, including hearings and court appearances. But Charles also knew how much Adeline loved London.
