I also think this song fits well, it's him realizing he's a bad person and trying to find a way to change that and his ways. He just wants to help people. All he wanted was to help.
He tries to find someone to help him, and Rosie is that someone, but he believes that she is so much better than him and he doesn't deserve him, but Rosie tries to convince him otherwise.
When she does convince him, they begin the long journey of redemption.
