I shoot daggers at Peeta the rest of the time they visit with us, which is only a few seconds.
"Well, we better get going. It was nice seeing you both." They say and go.
Thankfully, they didn't notice.
I let out a held breath, partly from sucking in, which doesn't help a bit when you have a little human inside of you that's gonna poke out no matter what.
I don't care what Peeta says, it's noticeable that I've gained weight and have a bump.
"You better not even think about it." I say sternly.
"I won't. Like I said, it was once and I shouldn't have done it then. I promise you, Katniss." Peeta says, looking me in the eyes.
"Okay, but you shouldn't just be saying that because I'm pregnant."
He sighs, "I'm not. If I would've known you were pregnant and were going to that appointment, do you think I would've been out there?"
"It's not that, it's that even though you didn't know I was pregnant and I didn't either, you shouldn't have broken our promise in the first place. I know I've forgiven you but it still bugs me."
Peeta frowns, "Then you haven't forgiven me. I won't break another promise. It hurt you a lot and I'm sorry. I really am and I know it sounds bad but if I would've known, I would've been there."
I let out a sigh, "Just forget about it. I don't wanna talk about it anymore." I say as the waiter brings over our food.
He just gives me a look as I start eating.
I know that I'm hurting his feelings but he doesn't understand how much he hurt me the other day and I've been trying to push it back but it still hurts.
"Katniss?" Peeta asks after a while of no talking or eye contact, just strict eating.
"What?" I ask him, probably a little too harshly.
"Nothing." He says, looking down at the food he's barely touched.
"I'm not mad at you if that's what you were going to ask." I snap.
Gosh, where is all this attitude coming from?
At least attitude towards Peeta.
"Okay." He says, his voice soft but high pitched.
I sigh and keep eating.
I can feel the baby getting jumpy inside so I stop before I end up puking it all up.
I pull out my phone and pretend to be doing something but I'm actually just flipping the pages on the home screen back and forth, back and forth.
The waiter comes over a few minutes later, "Are you ready for the bill?"
Peeta pauses and I can tell he is looking at me.
"Yes, please?" Peeta says.
A few minutes later, Peeta taps my hand, "Let's go." He says.
I stand up and we go.
"Are you going to talk to me?" Peeta asks, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Maybe." I say.
He sighs deeply, obviously getting frustrated with me.
"Okay."
"Was your food good?" I ask him.
"It was okay. Yours?"
"Fine." I mumble.
"Why didn't you finish it?" He asks me, genuinely concerned.
"The baby started moving a lot and I didn't want to get sick."
He nods a little.
"Listen, I can tell you are still mad at me but I promise I feel guilty about it. I never should have done it to begin with and I did and that was the stupidest mistake of my life. I will never get drunk again, I promise you."
"Okay, I believe you." I say, just really not wanting to talk about it at all.
He doesn't say anything, just reaches over and puts his hand on my thigh, giving it a few squeezes.
"I love you and our little baby." He says.
"I love you both too."
He gives it another squeeze.
"Do you want to go by and make the announcements?"
I sigh, "Sure."
So we go.
The man of the photography place was delighted to hear of the announcement of our child and was happy to make the announcements we picked out.
They turned out pretty perfect if you ask me.
