Willingly
I threw myself into danger
My back to yours
Shouldering every injury
Teeth gritted
Knees threatening to buckle
Balance swaying
Forehead bleeding
Spit and blood leaking from my lips
For you
All for you
All to protect you from them
And I was fine with that
Really
I was
But I thought you'd be there once it's done
Ready to hold me
Ready to help me put my pieces back together
After all, it's us against them, right?
That's how it's always been
But instead
You sided with them
You called me the problem
You accused me of being a provokator
A hell-raiser
A careless, cold child who loves pain
I thought you knew
It was all a mask
I thought you knew
How much I loved you
Willingly
You sided with them
Those who hurt me
Those who hurt you
How could you
How could you
I protected you from pain
Only for you to cause me more pain
I no longer see you as mine
I no longer will protect you
Comfort you
Shield you
Trust you
Defend you
I only see you as theirs
(I am alone)
