[CHAPTER 12: Change]
"I don't know how they got in here!"
Kahit na bawal ang estudyante sa backstage, maliban nalang kung kasama sa staff production, pumislit pa rin si Bella rito para lang ipaalam sa akin na naandito nga sina Mommy!
"Pero imposible eh... yes, even without the ticket they can get in since your Dad is a powerful man but... how did they know about this?" gulong-gulo na si Bella.
Siya na ang natataranta para sa akin.
"Baka nalaman nina Tita Christabel?" naisip ko. "O baka naman nagbigay ng notif ang school sa mga magulang. One call away lang ang school sa mga magulang natin."
"The one call away is possible than the other one. If Mommy knew about this pageant, she should've been here supporting you as well!" ani Bella at ginulo ang buhok.
I was about to calm her down when Wonwoo suddenly appeared behind her. Matalim siyang nakatingin kay Bella pero nang marinig naming humikbi si Bella, nag-iba ang ekspresyon niya.
"Uh, Bella—" natigil ako nang bigla niya akong hawakan sa magkabilang braso.
"Just do your best, okay?" naiiyak niyang sabi at ngumiti sa gitna ng pagtangis. "Just think about the good stuffs a-and let it inspire you. You'll still be the Erica Alaine I know even when you lose. Nothing will change, okay?"
I took that by the heart and nodded reassured to her. She then smiled faintly before pulling me for a tight hug. Napatingin naman ako kay Wonwoo na ngayon ay maamong nakatingin sa... kayakap ko.
He then fakely coughed, "Bella, sorry to disturb, pero last two candidates na ang narampa. Babalik na ulit si Erica sa stage."
I thought Bella would launch a havoc again but she just pulled out from the hug and gave me one last faint smile before she stood up. She mouthed goodluck before leaving with Wonwoo out of the room. Wonwoo was gentle with her, though, he just guided her out without saying anything.
Hmm... bati na ang aso't pusa natin?
That thought calmed me though. Natawa ako sa naisip at napakagat-labi nalang. I really wonder, would this two end up being with each other for the rest of their lives? From academic rivals and opposite of one another to lovers and inseparable duo. Wouldn't that be nice?
Natigil ako sa kakaisip sa kinabukasan nina Bella at Wonwoo nang tawagin ako ng Stage Director. Sasabak na kami sa unang Q&A portion.
Kinakabahan ako. Kung kaysa kabahan ako sa tanong na ibabato sa akin, sa presensya ng mga magulang ko. Sa paglabas naming limang kandidato't kandidata, agad kong nahagilap ang tingin ni Mommy.
She was smiling proudly at me. When our eyes met, her smile grew wider and her eyes glimmered with ushed tears. I think this is the first time she attended a competition of mine. She must be surprised and proud of all of this.
On the other hand, my Father's face is gloomy. It's like he's disappointed on what I am doing right now. I bet he's thinking that I lied to him yesterday when I told him that I am doing well in school and this pageant stuff is actually my top priority, not my studies!

Isinantabi ko muna ang isipin na iyon nang tawagin na ang isang kandidata para tanungin. Open pa sa aming ibang kandidato ang tanong, hindi tulad mamaya sa Top 3 kung saan hindi namin maririnig ang tanong unless kami na ang tatanungin.
Panghuli ako sa tinawag sa year level namin. Confident akong ngumiti at ipinakita sa lahat ng taong nanunuod na karapat-dapat ako sa karangalang ibabahagi ng paligsahan na ito. Hindi ko nalang tiningnan sina Mommy dahil baka mawala ako sa wisyo.
