Four years ago today....I was in that fire." Vincent says.

"What do you mean?" I ask, shocked at the revelation.

"I think I vaguely remember your brothers face. I must have seen him that day."

"What happened?"

"Are you sure you want to hear this?" He asks.

"I need to know."

"One minute it was fine, the next it was chaos. Flames were everywhere. By the time anyone noticed all the walls were covered in fire, there was no escape or that's what we all thought. I ran up to the second floor. I know heat and smoke rises but it was my only option because I couldn't breathe. Luckily for me the fire hadn't fully spread upstairs and I managed to smash a window and jump out. I broke my leg from the fall and cut myself on the glass, after that I must have passed out because the next thing I remember I was at the hospital. I was the only survivor."

With unshed tears glistening in my eyes I encase him in a hug. "I'm sorry."

He wraps his arms around my back. "No, I'm sorry. " He says. "I should've gone back to try and save the others but I was just so scared and I wasn't thinking clearly and I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Cassie."

"It's not your fault." I say hugging him tighter.

After a few minutes we pull away.

"Do you know why it happened?" I ask.

"It was arson. Some traitor trying to get his twisted revenge on Blaine. He obviously didn't know what he was doing because the fucker died with the rest of them." He pauses. "I don't know what he looked like, I don't know if I saw him that day, if I could've prevented it from happening if only I'd have paid closer attention. But I'll never forget his name. Rowan Grey."

Rowan Grey?

Why does the sound of that name feel oddly familiar?

"Rowan Grey?" I say testing the name out on my lips.

"Yes." Vincent replies.

It can't be a coincidence that I've heard that name before.

I go through a list of names in my mind, trying to put a name to the face but I come up blank.

Rowan Grey killed my brother.

I can't shake the feeling that I know who he is.

Vincent couldn't have prevented this, but what if I could have?

♡♡♡

"Cassie." I hear someone not quite shout as I'm walking through the halls of Blaine's house.

I spin around to see who's calling me.

"Hi." I say to Johnson, one of the men helping me rebuild my bakery.
