(A/N) There is one thing I feel like I'm noticing as I have read through these books again... sometimes, because it's told through the eyes of Harry Potter, I feel like Rowling just dismisses Hermione as a whole, and I know it's due in large part to the fact that Canon Harry finds Hermione quite annoying a lot of the time. I don't blame that on him, though, I blame Rowling entirely. I love that these books exist because otherwise I wouldn't be writing a fanfic, but I dislike a lot of choices she made, and I'll forever hate the choice that was Romione, but I've said enough about that as is.

Ron's return wasn't as grand as he may have expected, but he wasn't forced to leave either. He made an open attempt to just be friendly towards Hermione the day after his return, but she was still seething with anger at him, so she regarded him with an almost flippant attitude. As for the Sword, (Y/N) used Reducio on it to make it small and he put it in his bottomless pouch, but this time, he would not make it easy to find the pouch. He had also got to thinking that Scrimgeour actually lied to him, Dumbledore would've never left him the Sword, it was for Harry, and Scrimgeour probably only said it to gauge his reaction. He didn't bring this up to anyone, though.

Later that afternoon, both Harry and Ron said they were going to scout the hedges for blackberries, and (Y/N) immediately knew that to be a lie, as he knew blackberries didn't grow in this area. He was unconcerned, though, as it gave him a moment to talk to Hermione, "I wanted to kill him..."

Hermione looked over at him, "Why didn't you?" She asked, wondering what stopped his wrath short of killing Ron Weasley. If he had gone through with it, she could not be hypocritical about it, as she had killed Lavender. If he had killed Ron, she'd have shown false distraught, but even (Y/N) wouldn't have been surprised about her quickly getting over it, she was sure of that.

"I thought of his family... for one second, I thought of them... and how broken they would be if he wound up dead," (Y/N) answered her, "but if he does anything like that again... I will not hold back again."

Hermione felt a shiver wash over her with the way he said that, "Even if he does piss me off... probably for the better you didn't." 'Though I wouldn't have cared in the long run if you had.'

"Better than having Harry angry at me for however much longer we're doing this shit for," he sighed.

"True," Hermione smiled at him, placing her hand over his on the table in the middle of the tent. He looked up at her and smiled back at her.

He got to thinking of something, and rested his cheek on his fist as his elbow rested on the table, other hand still under Hermione's. He almost startled Hermione out of her skin when he spoke so suddenly in the quiet, "Xenophilius Lovegood!"

"What!?" Hermione had removed her hand from his and had placed it over her chest, her heart rate was alarmingly fast, and she almost felt like she could suffer from a heart attack if it beat any faster, "What about hi-"

"The mark, the one we think is my grandfather's... it existed way before him, had to, because it was on that grave in Godric's Hollow, and that date of death for Ignotus was several centuries before Grindelwald was born, and it's in the book Dumbledore left you. But Grindelwald took the mark as his own, much like many powerful leaders do, good and evil. But remember," he looked at Hermione, "Luna's father had it around his neck at Bill's and Fleur's wedding."

"You're right, we need to go and talk to him, he'll be able to shed some light on it, I have no doubt," Hermione said in full agreement, "let's go mention it to the other two."

"Okay," (Y/N) agreed and got up with Hermione, walking out of the tent to see Harry and Ron walking back toward them, but he kept his eyes off Ron, "Harry, we need to go see Xenophilius Lovegood."
