Tahj Halim
Me and Ty were sharing a blunt in his basement, talking about Tasha and Katoria.

"She can't keep it from her kid for long." He said passing it to me. I nodded agreeing.

"I been wanting to say something for years, but every time I bring it up to Kennon, he shuts it down." I say. I took a long drag of the blunt and then looked at it.

"I gotta go see him this weekend. It's been a minute." Ty said as I passed him the blunt back.

"You know he getting out in a month?" I asked him and he nodded.

"It's gone be a lot of drama, all because of Tasha. Imma try to stay out of it, bro." He said and passed it back to me.

Katoria Halim
We've been here for a week and I haven't been to school yet, but today is my first day. There was a bus stop at the end of my neighborhood that I had to catch. Did I mention that I will be attending Strawberry Mansion High?

I got dressed in a pair of khaki skinny leg pants, a white polo collar shirt, a blue jean jacket, and dark blue toms. Marlo told me that they wore uniform clothes, which wasn't new to me. I wore uniform at my last school.

I unwrapped my hair, which was done two days ago and I only had to run my fingers through it. [Hairstyle above]

I went into the front room and saw my mother on the phone.

"I can start tomorrow....Yes sir...Okay, thank you so much.....bye." She said. She looked at me and smiled.

"I got a job at the pharmacy." She said and I laughed and nodded.

She seemed a little taken back that I was smiling with her, which made me stop and look away from her and pick my backpack from off the floor.

"I'm gone ma." I said.

"Be safe, Myri. I love you." She said and I closed the door. I love her too, so I don't feel the need to say it. She knows it already I feel like.

I walked off the porch and onto the street. I saw other people my age coming out of some of the houses and walking in the same direction as me. I put my headphones in and out my music on just in case anyone tried to talk to me. I don't need any friends.

I made it to the bus stop and looked at the kids around me. Some were staring at me which made me roll my eyes. One girl said something but I couldn't hear her because of my music. I sighed, not wanted to get into it with anybody as we all waited for the bus to come.

Tasha Waters
Since Queens was only two hours away from where we had lived, I drove back today. I had some business to handle that I didn't need Myri to know about just yet.

I was sitting in the parking lot of the prison Kennon was locked up in. I hadn't seen this man in six years and today would hopefully be the last time. I turned my car off and got out, grabbing my purse and walked inside.

"Who are you here for, ma'am?" A guard asked me.

"Kennon Halim."

"We're going to ask that you step to the side and sign these papers." They said. It took about fifteen minutes before I was finally sitting at a table in a closed off room, waiting on Kennon.

The door opened and I put my head down. My palms began to sweat.

I heard him sit down in front of me. I looked up at met his cold light brown eyes, the same ones as Myri's. He looked at me like I disgusted him.

"It's been a long time, Tasha." He said. I nodded and pushed my hair behind my ear.

"Look, I came here to tell you that me and Katoria moved somewhere else and I also know that you'll be out soon. I don't want you in our lives, and I want you to stay away from us." I said wanting to get this over with.

"Why would I stay away from my daughter, Tasha?" He asked folding his arms.

"She hates you." I said.

"You're lying."

"You're right, I am, but I'm not lying when I say that I hate you myself."

"I don't give a fuck about you hating me. Fuck you. All I care about is her."

"She doesn't want to love me because of you! If you come back in her life, I'll lose her forever!" I exclaimed getting emotional.

"Is that why you been keeping all my letters from her?!" He yelled.

"Yes! From the moment she was born, she was always attached to you! You're the reason why she doesn't like to open up to people! She's so cold hearted and won't even let her own family get to know her! It's your fault Kennon!"

"Fuck you, Tasha! You think when she finds out you been keeping her from me, it's gone make y'all relationship better?! No! It won't work!"

"That's why she ain't gone find out, Kennon. Stay away from my child unless you want me to take this to court."

He clenched his jaw and I wiped my face. I stood up and looked at him one last time before grabbing my purse and leaving. All I wanted was for my daughter to love me and no one is going to get in the way of me making that happen.
