Declan strolled through the hospital corridors, his phone pressed to his ear. The sun cast a warm glow on his salt-and-pepper hair as he continued the conversation with his wife.

''Yes, I just finished up. Another successful surgery,'' he said with a hint of pride in his voice, a contrast to the humility he displayed in the operating room.

The nurse, recovering from her momentary embarrassment, couldn't help but watch him walk away. She mumbled to herself, "Lucky wife," while adjusting her scrubs nervously.

Declan chuckled at something his wife said, making the atmosphere around him seem lighter. He entered his office, adorned with medical accolades and family photos, giving it a personalized touch.

''Tell the kids I'll be home soon,'' he reassured his wife before hanging up. The nurse, still flustered, hesitated near his office door before scurrying off.

As Declan settled into his chair, he couldn't help but notice a quirky drawing on his desk. It was a doodle from his youngest child, a reminder that amidst surgeries and hospital politics, he was a dedicated family man.
