I'm going to make sure that that wasn't the last conversation my kids had with their mother. Make sure it wasn't the last conversation I had with Blue. I'd rather die before I let anything happen to her.
My trail of thoughts were interrupted when I heard a knock on the passengers window. I looked at who it was and immidietly unlocked the door and got out. He shifted away from the car before looking at me.
"Brown."
"Mr Cooper." I replied, stepping closer. "Anything from your team ?"
"Nothing." Alexander shaked his head.
I ran my hands through my hair, looking around the empty desert. I don't know what for, maybe I'm waiting for her to just magically appear or just emerge from somewhere under the sand... Despite the fact that she's not here, something continuasly draws me to this place. It may be the fact that the necklace is somewhere around here or that they were here if she happened to loose the necklace.
At first I thought maybe she dropped it. Jake, Maddison, Sam.. they all tried to convince me that the only reason the tracker indicates that the necklace is here, it's because she lost it before they moved her to another location. But for some reason.. I keep coming here. Something just draws me to this place. It turns out I'm not just hallucinating, even Blue's own father thinks she might be here somewhere.
She has a chip installed in her wrist. She thought she got rid of it but Alexander had actually installed two, because he knew his daughter would find a way to remove it. A necklace can fall, but it isn't a coincidence that the chip is also in the exact same location.
"We'll find her." He exclaimed. I don't know if he was trying to convince me, or himself.
I chuckled sadly. "I really hope so."
You could see the dread, fear and worry in his eyes. For once, he didn't carry the intimidating aura/energy he always had. He actually looked scared. The streets aren't kidding when they say Blue is Alexander's life. If you wanna get to the leader of the Goated Gang, touch his daughter.
"You love her, don't you ?"
"More than anything in this entire world." I replied honestly.
"I can see that." He let out a small smile. "Just be strong for her. We're talking about Blue here, I know she can handle anything that comes her way."
She doesn't have to.
I nodded.
Jake's car parked infront of us seconds later and he got out along with Sam and Maddie.
"I think we might have found something." Maddie said as she rushed to us, holding a device that looked like a metal detector.
"What is it ?" Alexander asked before I could say anything.
She moved around the desert, looking at her phone. "The tracker indicates she's here." She muttered to herself before switching on the metal detector.
The metal detector beeped which meant there was metal under the sand. We all moved to where she was standing after I understood what they found.
I immediately bent down and dug through the sand, where the machine detected a metal. "I feel the metal." Jake voiced out what I was thinking as he helped me dig down deep and remove the sand.
Moments later we were met with a small circular door on the ground. So many emotions swirling through my mind, confusion, anger, relief, anxiety.. we finally found where Blue is. Underground, I don't even know how I didn't think of this. It wasn't a coincidence that the necklace and the chip were in the same location. Blue and whoever abducted her are in this desert. I came here every single day after she got kidnapped. I spent my nights here, looking high and low for Blue while all along she was underneath me. She was underground and none of us even thought about that.
"How do we open this ?" Jake asked as we all looked at the hard metal infront of us.
"This door is made out of Tungsten." Blue's father bent down to touch the door. "The strongest metal in the world. It won't be easy to open."
"I have the riff magnetic induction." I stood up, Jake and Alexander following suit.
"Melting the metal with magnetic induction. Once the metal reaches the Curie point, it looses all it's magnetism and will fall on the ground." Maddie nodded as relief flooded through her.
"The riff is in Mayville, we have to find another plan." I concluded.
The flight from Nevada to Mayville, and back will take approximately thirty eight hours. That's more than a day with us knowing where Blue is, but being unable to do anything to save her. Two more fucking days without her in my arms, without knowing what state she's in. I'll have to find a plan that'll work faster.
"But Kenny this might be the only way to open the door." Jake replied.
"Maddie, I'll fix you a Jet. Go with the other guy to get it." Alexander suggested referring to Sam. "We'll all stay here and watch the door, or come up with another plan if there's any."
"Yes sir." Maddie nodded.
"Jake you can go back home with them." I looked at him.
"I'm not-"
"You left your wife and son at home." I reminded. "They probably need you right now."
He sighed, wanting to say something but decided against it.
"Don't worry, I'll keep you updated on everything." I promised after a long period of silence.
He nodded, giving me a bro hug with a pat on the back.
"We'll keep in touch." He said and I agreed. The three of them rushed to Jake's car and got inside before he drove off. Alexander took out his phone and made a call to his pilot.
Thirty eight hours seemed like forever from now on. I know where she is and I can't even do anything about it. I'd literally do anything to see the glint of sunshine in her brown eyes again.
Anything to hear her soft voice, her infectious smile that just lights up the room without her even noticing. To just run my hands through her silky smooth black hair. To atleast smell her vanilla extract body wash, her coconut and vanilla shampoo. Anything to just feel her skin against mine. To get the same feeling of euphoria I always do when she moves her soft and delicate lips against mine. I miss the confident and beautiful energy she carries around. Her obsession with physical touch, hugs and kisses. The way she always has answers for everything. Her sassy little attitude towards me but her gentle and loving nature towards our kids... I miss my girl.
