Richard yawned loudly, slowly stretching out on the air mattress as he woke up. He sat up, looking around and remembering what room he was in - the afternoon sun bright and the room pleasantly warm despite last night's snow storm.
It's as though the very earth had wished to wipe away the remains of their battle...
Richie sat up peering out the window before looking around the room.
"SSSS-A-Saturn R–RRaanger-"
"Good Morning Mirror" Richie mutters, raising the disguised morpher to his mouth.
"Good M–Mo-Morning"
"Adam mentioned getting Alpha to check you over but...I kind of like you like this, you're unique. What do you think? If you want me to get you checked out I can"
Quiet for a moment.
"Th-Thhhink...Un-Unique" she replies.
"Heh, thought so!"
Richie heard footsteps and went silent, the door slid open slightly with a gentle knock.
"Is that you awake Richard?" April asked.
"Si, morning Mrs - Morning April"
Ross' mother laughed.
"Good boy, I was getting sick of the polite 'Mrs. Park'." she joked "Come on, I have brunch ready"
Richie followed her down the stairs noting the silence in the building.
"Where's Adam and Ross?"
"Ross got called in this morning, they need an extra hand because they've got a new person starting and he's the only one who can supervise her training" April replied "Adam dropped him off and said he'd be back later, with my husband that could be any minute now or like...midnight"
Richie laughed weakly.
"True"
"They both seemed reluctant to wake you this morning so we left you to sleep. Don't worry about your father, Adam already called him. If he starts anything, just call us, we'll come straight over"
"Si I know..." he goes quiet.
April glances at him, before quietly adding in:
"You don't have to go back to him Richie"
"H-Huh!?" The new black ranger almost falls over in shock, scrambling to regain his composure.
"I simply mean that Jackson is - frankly put - the worst person I've ever met. If you don't want to go back I wouldn't blame you. We'd be here for you regardless, Ross more so than all of us"
"...I...I can't...he's my dad, much as we don't get along..." Richie grabs the dog tags around his neck, fiddling with one of them "when it comes to blood relations...he's all I've got"
"I know sweetheart, but don't forget that blood doesn't define family. I'll have you remember that Ross' uncle is not in fact blood related to us by any means, but is closer with him than his actual blood aunt"
"Yeah - but like, Carlos is cool. Sunny and her turd of a son both suck"
April rolled her eyes.
"Now, don't you talk about my sister in law and my nephew that way young man" she starts before whispering "Although I find I have to agree"
Richie breaks out in laughter, having to sit down at the kitchen table before his legs collapse under him. April snickers, looking proud of herself as she grabs Richie's brunch and slides it over to him.
