Goodbyes and Beginnings

Start from the beginning

"Get. Away. Form. Them." (Y/n) said, their teeth clenched and fists by their side. Obsidian stood taller, back straightened and shoulders rolled back, (Y/n) saw his face clearly for the first time in that moment. There was no dreamy haze, no hood blocking their view- if (Y/n) had met them in any other situation they would have called him beautiful, unrightfully so. Slick like black hair, dark gray skin, with golden eyes- as sharp as a cat. Thick eyebrows and narrowed eyes with a strong nose and lined jaw. (Y/n) thought it was unfair, but maybe in another life they would have been something- but not right now.

Obsidian's chest raised and fell, taking in deep breaths from the fighting he ignored the others near him. All he saw was (Y/n). When he first found them, he wasn't sure what he was expecting when he was looking for the fallen pink gem. He had come across Steven, but he also found (Y/n)- they grabbed his attention, gem or not- he knew they would be his downfall. So he took matters into his own hands, tracking them down through nightmares and dreams- a power he was grateful for. Looking into their memories Obsidian knew (Y/n) wasn't who he was looking for, but there was something odd about this human. Seeing them right at this moment confirmed it- their skin in a pink hue and their eyes now pink with a diamond shaped pupil. Their (h/c) almost floating around their head, framing their face in a way that lured him in. How they were standing gave off a strong and confident aura, one he realized looked amazing on them.

"Amazing." Obsidian beamed, smiling wide with his sharp k-9's on display. "Somehow someone like her made someone like you." He pointed out.

"What are you talking about?" Amethyst glared as she twirled her whip around in her hand. Pearl's eyes widened, but before Obsidian could answer her- Garnet stepped towards him and raised her gauntlet to him.

"You're here for them, I won't let you get near them." Garnet said. Before another fight could break out I spoke.

"Lion. Now." I shouted, not looking at the giant feline he nodded and opened a portal behind Obsidian. He ducks and looks behind him, raising a brow in confusion he turns back around, only to see (Y/n) forming a bubble around the gems. Trapping them and getting them out of the way.

"(Y/n)?! What are you doing?!" Pearl shouted, trying to pop the bubble with her spear.

"Unbubble us now!" Garnet ordered.

"This is the only way." I said, gently pushing them to the side (Y/n) broke out into a run and tackled Obsidian into the portal. The giant man lets them and they fall into an unknown location- he knows it's on earth, just doesn't know where. However, he didn't care- because he has them where he wants them.

"(Y/n)!!!" The gems shouted, the bubble pops right as the portal closes. They tried to run towards it at the last second but they were too late. Pearl holds her hands to her mouth and drops to her knees. Tears falling and landing on the wooden flooring. Amethyst screams and cries as she whips the floorboards, tears mixing with snot as she cries. Garnet stood in silence, her gauntlets vanishing and tears falling from behind her visors. Steven stirs awake while Greg is still asleep- he sees the gems surrounding the middle of the living room all in shock and in tears.

"Guys... What's going on?" Steven asked, standing up he made his way to the group. "Where's (Y/n)?... Who was that guy?" He kept asking as he got closer. He stops behind Garnet and gently places his hand on her leg, brings her out of her shocked state and brings her to her knees.

"Guys?" Steven choked out, his own tears falling.

"Ah!" (Y/n) shouted as they landed on a bed of sand and pebbles. Obsidian was able to land on his feet and jump out of the way. He slid in the sand and stood a few feet away from (Y/n), checking out his surroundings and taking in the area. A beach... no, an island. No sign of human life, due to the overgrown palm trees and wild bushes with unlittered beaches. "Why the hell are you doing this?" (Y/n) asked, as they stood up and dusted the sand off their shirt. Now only to realize they were still in their pjs.

"Is he Pink diamond?" Obsidian asked, referring to Steven. (Y/n) froze and stood taller, watching his every move.

"No. She's gone- and whatever beef you had with her... it's gone too." (Y/n) said, narrowing their eyes at the thought of their mother's problems coming for Steven in the future.

"I see." Obsidian whispered.

"What did she do to you anyways?" (Y/n) asked, noticing the tension now gone from him but they kept their guard up- not taking a chance.

"... She took the earth from me." Obsidian said, he bent his knees and took a seat on the sandy beach.

"What?" (Y/n) asked, they didn't move from their spot as Obsidian continued to look out on the ocean.

"When the gems were born, their opposites were born as well. However, we like being called minerals." Obsidian explained.

"The Diamonds and Obsidians were made of equal power. All gems and minerals looked to us for leadership and guidance. From the Diamonds were White, Blue, Yellow, and Pink- the Obsidians were Rainbow, Red, Green, and Black. The Diamonds had rubies, sapphires, pearls, and quartzs. We had gold, coppers, iron, and granites.

"Our ideas of leadership were different, the Diamonds wanted order and for the gems to be perfect. While my brother, Rainbow Obsidian, wanted peace and equality for all minerals and gems. White didn't like that so we split off into different areas- the Earth was in the middle. I wanted to calm the planet as my own- to grow new life with the life already growing here, but Pink got to it first- however, I'm surprised she didn't destroy it." Obsidian said. (Y'n) raised a brow at him.

"She loved life on earth, so she chose to protect it." (Y/n) informed him, from what Pearl had told me- she fell in love with the earth the moment she stepped foot on it.

"A spoiled brat, dealing with a problem in such a poor manner." Obsidian said. (Y/n) sat on the sand next to him, keeping a good distance between them.

"... Pearl only told me good things about her... only good things." (Y/n) mentioned, the silence between them was claiming like two good friends just enjoying each other's company. "Truce?" (Y/n) suggested as they reached out their hand to him. Obsidian glanced at (Y/n) only to look back at the ocean, his elbows resting on his knees.

Before he could shake their hand, a rustle came from behind them, a yard away in the tree lining hiding behind bushes poking out was a spear made from stones and branches. (Y/n) stood up from their feet while Obsidian stayed in his place on the sand. Popping out from behind the bushes was someone (Y/n) didn't think they would see again.

"Watermelon Steven?" said watermelon jumped a bit and dropped his weapon making a run towards (Y/n). Jumping into their arms, (Y/n) chuckled and spun them around. Obsidian watched them and couldn't help but take a moment to truly see them. "How are you guys?" (Y/n) asked, smiling down at the five foot fruit boy. He gives them a thumbs up, but before they could ask another question a lot more watermelon Stevens came popping out of the bushes. Some with face paint, skirts, and flower crowns, but all carried spears and shields. Some lowered their guard when they saw (Y/n), the others kept their eyes on Obsidian- weapons aimed at him.

"He won't hurt you guys... right?" (Y/n) asked Obsidian who kept his eyes on (Y/n) and the melon Steven in their arms. He nods and looks back out into the sea, the smell of salt and plants, the heat of the sun on his form brought him peace. One he only got in his space back on Homeworld- he wonders if his brothers are doing okay.

"Hey, come on." (Y/n) patted his shoulder, gesturing towards the melons at the tree lining. Waiting for the human and mineral to follow them, Obsidian doesn't look away from the water.

"I'm good." He said. (Y/n) raised a brow and followed his line of sight. Worried that if left alone- he would return back to Beach City to destroy the gems. Obsidian could feel the worry coming off in waves from (Y/n). "I'll be here... I just like the beach. I'd like some time to myself."

"Okay. Come find us when you're ready." (Y/n) said, patting his shoulder before following the melon Stevens to their self-built village. The tension that formed between Obsidian and (Y/n) was thinned, but not gone. It was like the feeling of just waking up but still feeling tired, (Y/n) still had questions for him but they could wait for them to be answered. For now.

But right now, all they wanted was to spend time alone. Everything's changed and a lot more questions have popped up. They just hope Steven and the others will do okay, until they came back home.
