My arms find their way around his neck while his wrap around my waist. He rocks the hug side to side, a motion I recognize quickly by doing it with James so often.
"I want to tell you something," Kenji murmurs, his voice soft and earnest; grip tightening ever so slightly.
"Okay," I stutter, my voice barely above a whisper.
"You're honestly so badass," he whispers back, his breath warm against my ear.
I let out a soft snort in response, a ghost of a smile appearing on my face as his words sink in, filling me with a warmth I desperately needed.
