Steven Universe Reader Insert (Rewrite)

Robots and Strangers

"Are you okay?" Steven asked them.

"What is all this?" Pearl asked. We continued down and where dirt should be were thick green wires lining the walls of the hole. The robot stops at the bottom and lines up with a room, lighting it up. All the thick green wires ended up connecting behind a giant screen. The pyramid lifts up higher and it begins to form a small ball underneath itself, popping out a small robot. It climbs into the room and activates the room. Several screens lit up with a center monitor screen, displaying static for a brief moment, and then displaying Peridot on-screen. I froze and I could feel everyone else startled by Peridot's image. Garnet thinks fast and grabs me, as I was unable to move. We hide at the bottom of the edge of the room, out of sight.

"Established Gem Projection Link with control room. Plug Robonoid has successfully landed on Planet Earth and entered the Prime Kindergarten Control Room in Facet Five. Will proceed to perform a status check of Kindergarten." Peridot said to herself, probably for a data log she was recording.

"It's Peridot." Amethyst whispered.

"Is she trying to re-activate the Kindergarten? Doesn't she know it'll destroy all life on Earth?!" Pearl whispered.

"Maybe we should ask?" Steven suggested.

"Shh! Steven, we're facing an enemy we don't know with technology we don't understand. This isn't the time to be asking questions." Garnet whispered at him.

"It really seems like the right time..." Steven frowned, he was right. The only way we were going to get answers is from the source. I tapped his head and he looked up at me. Jabbing my thumb up towards the room I smirked when his eyes lit up, he nodded and began to climb.

"Ok - here's the plan: We can't let her see us, so we wait for an opening. When she's distracted, we destroy the power source on the far wall. Steven and (Y/n) stay here!" Garnet whispered to Pearl and Amethyst nodded. I finished climbing up to the room with Steven helping me up, all I heard behind me were the gems whispering yelling our names.

"Now accounting for all operational Injectors. Checking for aberrations in the perimeter." Peridot said. We walked into the control room and watched as two large green hand constructs emerged from the floor beside us. The hands activate a pair of panels on the wall screens, which causes cylinders to eject from the ceiling. "Ugh, this Gem Tech is simply archaic." Peridot sighed as she continued.

"I don't know, I think it looks pretty cool to me." Steven said, I nod.

"This stuff is a lot more advanced than anything on earth." I added. There is silence; from what I could see Peridot's monitor abruptly and quickly cancels all she is doing and turns to face Steven and I in surprise.

"Hi, I'm Steven. This is my sibling (Y/n)." Steven introduced us.

"There appears to be an infestation of "Stevens" and "(Y/n)s" in the Kindergarten." Peridot stated.

"Daw, We're not so bad once you get to know us!" I smiled.

"... And how many more Stevens and (Y/ns) are present in this area?" Peridot asked.

"It's just us." I said, crossing my arms.

"Nee-ah, that's a relief. So tell me - Have Stevens and (Y/ns) replaced "humans" as the dominant species on Earth?" Peridot asked after she sighed in relief.

"Oh no, there's lots of humans, there's my dad, Connie, Lars and Sadie, the mailman, Onion... I think. ...Lots of people." Steven listened off.

"We are human. Is what he meant." I chimed in.

"Hmmm." Peridot nods.

"Now it's my turn to ask a question: what are you doing here?" I asked.

"Hm, just picking up where we left off." Peridot answered. Her monitor faces away from us. A hand construct raises above us and forms a fist, attempting to crush us. I flinched when the shape of pain formed on the side of my head again, this time it was stronger. I didn't see what happened next but when I opened my eyes I saw Garnet jumping in to catch the fist and throwing it away. Peridot's monitor turns back and she looks surprised by Garnet's presence. "A gem?!" Pearl and Amethyst jump over to us. "AH! MORE?? But the Red Eye didn't report the presence of any Gems on this planet!"
