(Lumity Werewolf AU)

(Luz POV):

It was night, and Luz was walking home from the library after finding a book about gothers. To Luz's knowledge, they were essentially the Boiling Isles' equivalent to otters...just darker and, I don't know, more edgy?  They were strange, but to Luz, they were absolutely adorable.

Lus was simply strolling through the forest on her way back home; her sachel swinging back and forth with every step she took. The forest was quiet and, even though it was night, everything seemed to glow from the full moon shining down on the landscape.

She was admiring her surroundings when she heard a series of whimpers echo throughout the forest. At first, Luz flinched and prepared her glyphs, thinking that the noise was coming from some type of monster; however, after examining her surroundings, she saw these large golden orbs staring directly at her.

Taking small steps closer, Luz examined the creature and realized that it appeared to be a wolf...but it didn't look like any type of wolf that Luz had seen before. It was a small animal, but what caught her off guard was the wolf's coloring. It was auburn, and the tips of the wolf's ears and tail were turquoise green.

The wolf whimpered again, straining its eyes in pain.

Hearing the noise, Luz examined the wolf further, and, once she saw the bear trap-like device clamped to the wolf's shin, she immediately put her glyphs away and quickly ran toward it.

The wolf struggled against the trap, but the movement only caused the device to sink further within the animal's skin; causing it to let out a yelp in pain.

"Hey, hey, hey. It's ok. I'm not going to hurt you..." Luz said as she stopped running and put her hands up, showing the wolf that she won't hurt it. "I just want to get that thing off your leg," Luz said soothingly.

She slowly crept towards the creature's leg, careful not to make any sudden movements.

Kneeling down to get a closer look, Luz noticed that the device was similar to the ones in the human realm.

"I'm going to pick up your leg now. This may hurt, ok?"

She looked over at the wolf and was surprised when the creature nodded in understanding.

She picked up the wolfs leg carefully. Inspecting it and the device. It was lodged deep into the wolfs skin, but it seemed to work exactly like the ones in the human realm.

With this in mind, she stood up, standing on one clamp with both of her feet. Next, Luz squatted down and grabbed the top clamp with her hands, looking toward the wolf.

"Ok. When I pull, try to pull your leg out"

"One...two...three!" Luz shouted and, with all of her strength, pulled on the clamp, removing the jagged edges from the wolf's shin.

Feeling the trap being released from its leg, the wolf carefully pulled its leg out and laid on the floor, exhausted by the whole endeavor.

Luz carefully closed the trap and bent down to examine the animal's injury. The cut was deep, but luckily there was nothing broken.

To stop the bleeding, Luz grabbed the sleeve of her t-shirt and ripped it off, carefully wrapping it around the wolfs leg and tying it off.

As she was examining her work, Luz was caught off guard when the wolf suddenly pulled its foot away and pounced on top of her. The impact didn't hurt, but the weight of the animal was enough to make it so Luz couldn't move.

The animal stared at her, its golden eyes shining in the darkness of the night.

Looking into its eyes, Luz gasped when she noticed a hue of familiarity.

"Wait...hold on. You seem strangely familiar."

The wolf nodded and licked the side of Luz's face, sending shivers down the girls spine.

"Amity...?"
