"You might think you've outsmarted me Blue, but I'll always have the upper hand." He remarked matter-of-factly. "You wanna know why..? Because I have someone very close to you, closer than you think, on my side."
"Ever heard of the saying.. your biggest enemy is not a stranger." He let out a chuckle. "The unfortunate thing is that.. It's someone you hold very dear to your heart."
Moscow hung up the phone leaving me curious and confused as hell. One thing for sure, he wasn't bluffing, there is someone close to us working with him. It would explain the attack in Italy and him knowing our current location. He escaped from prison a few months ago so he obviously doesn't have much to his name. He's definitely getting help from someone who has all the resources and information. And this someone is very close to us.
It's someone you hold very dear to your heart. His words kept echoing in my head. Moscow's inside intel isn't one of our cleaners or guards or.. any of our workers. This person might be family or a friend.
The most infuriating part is, I don't have many people on my circle. I can't even find the ability to doubt even one of them. The only people close to me are Maddison, Max, My dad, Yvonne. They are the only people who come into mind when Moscow said, he has someone close to me on his side. Kenny's excluded because Moscow's anger towards him proves that he hates him. I'm not even gonna start doubting my family and friends because of Moscow's words. He was just trying to get in my head, and he's succeeded in doing that.
Moscow's last words echoed in my head for a whole fifteen minutes before I decided to go back inside. I let out a heavy sigh, putting my phone in my back pocket then headed to our hotel room. I opened the door and smiled when I saw a bunch of McDonald's meals spread across the table.
Kenny removed his arm from his face and sat straight when he heard the door closing.
Kenny stood up and I immidietly engulfed him in a hug. He held my waist bringing me closer as my hands wrapped around his neck.
"I'm sorry." He kissed the crook of my neck before pulling away.
"I heard half of your conversation and.. I let my jealousy get the best of me. I shouldn't have threatened to harm Junior." He bit his lower lip.
With everything that happened in the last thirty minutes.. our fight was the last thing on my mind. I even forgot what we were fighting about, or that we were fighting.
"Blue if there's one thing I can't apologize for, it's my past... I love you and I'm gonna spend the rest of my life trying to reassure that." He continued, the sincerity evident in his voice. "I just- I don't wanna lose you Blue."
"You won't." I replied. "I promise you that."
"I love you." I laid my head on his chest and wrapped my hands around his waist.
"I love you too." Kenny kissed my forehead.
"We good now ?" He hesitantly asked and I chuckled replying with a yes.
I held his hand, leading him to the couch.
"I thought they said they don't have a McDonald's store in this ship ?" I sat next to him on the couch and faced him with my legs crossed.
"They don't. I had it delivered." He smiled. "Medium chilli cheese Mcflavour fries with Habanero BBQ seasoning, two cheeseburgers, a wrapster happy meal with fries, McNuggets, two bubblegum milkshakes and two Mcflurry ice creams."
I kissed his cheek causing him to let out a small chuckle. Many things may have changed, he might no longer the kind and generous detective Mayville learned to love and admire... But he's still the Kenny I fell in love with. Loving, caring, honest and considerate. Him calling my order, not leaving out a single thing, made me realise.. the more things change, the more they stay the same. Kenny will always be the love of my life, wether he's everyone's favourite detective, or the most feared Mafia leader.
Through all the changes and uncertainties, one thing that will always remain constant is our love for each other.
"So the airplane I saw fifteen minutes ago was here to deliver McDonald's ?" I raised my eyebrows at him.
"Yeah." He pulled me to sit on his lap. "Although, the pilot almost didn't make it... He said something about a crazy woman almost shooting my private Jet."
"Yeah, that crazy woman is me." I muttered, taking the large fries on the table.
Kenny's eyes narrowed. "Why would you wanna kill my pilot ?"
"It wasn't on purpose... I thought Moscow sent him."
"Why would-"
I sighed. "He called."
