C H A P T E R 65

We walked inside the huge and beautifully decorated lounge. Kids running around and playing while adults conversed between themselves. This place was beautiful, Charlotte and Jake sure know how to throw a party, I gotta give them that.

"Uncle K!" A little boy shouted as he ran towards Kenny who picked him up and gave him a hug. "I thought you weren't coming."

"And miss your my little astronaut's birthday? Impossible." Kenny smiled putting him down. "You know I wouldn't miss it for the world. Happy birthday Teo."

"Thank you." The cute boy smiled. He had curly brown hair and he looked exactly like a male version of Charlotte. "Is she your girlfriend? She's beautiful."

"Beautiful doesn't even describe it." Kenny muttered looking at me.

I chuckled. "Hey Matteo, yes I'm his girlfriend... Happy birthday-

He was about to say something when he came face to face with Kai and he was done with smiles. They both glared at each other, as if challenging the other to try and do something. Yeah they don't get along.

"Hey Matteo." Kiara said causing him to finally look at her. His whole expression changed, his cheeks turned red and he blushed as he greeted Kiara.

"What the hell is going on ?" I whispered to Kenny as we looked at the two of them, then at Kai who was rolling his eyes looking at them.

"Kai beat up Matteo on his first day of kindergarten so they really don't get along." He chuckled. "And Matteo thinks Kiara is the most beautiful girl he's ever seen, she looks like a princess, his exact words."

Isn't this kid too young to find girls attractive ? I mean Kai thinks girls are gross. It might be because he grew up surrounded by only girls.. but the fact is, he doesn't like girls. And here's Matteo with his first crush, if it's his first, the kid is moving.

"You guys finally made it." My gaze averted to the man infront of us, Jake. He greeted Kenny before his eyes met mine. "Hey."

"Hi." I tried to smile, I didn't even know his state of mind so I was just uncomfortable and uneasy. The kids were long gone, running around the lounge so it was just the three of us.

"You guys look good together." He smiled. "You know I actually prepared a whole speech about how I'd break you if you broke my best friend's heart again. But now that you're here... I see why people fear you."

I chuckled. "Say it."

"The speech ?" He asked and I nodded. "Nah I think I'll skip that." Good choice.

"But I'm honestly glad you guys are back together after what you've been through. Your love for each other is remarkable and I wish nothing but the best."

"Thanks. You don't know how much that means to me." I smiled with so much relief flooding through me. Kenny put his hand on my back as he told Jake the same thing.

All my nerves came flooding back in an instant as I saw Charlotte walking to us. She looked beautiful, her brunette hair tied into a neat bun. She was wearing a blue dress with same coloured heels.

"Hi." She greeted the both of us as she stood next to Jake.

"Charlotte." Kenny replied.

"Hi." I followed.

She didn't seem very happy or angry to see me. But you could see it in her face that I was actually the last person she wanted to see. There was so much tension that you could actually cut it with a knife.

"Uh, Kenny I need your help with the uhm.. uh.. bouncy castle, yeah bouncy castle." Jake nodded. I knew for a fact that there was no problem with the bouncy castle.
