"Grandpa El from kindergarten ?" I asked in a low tone and they both nodded.

Kiara and Kai always told me about this grampa El who is, I think the cleaner or the the cook of the day care. They would always narrate their days with grandpa El. The worker who would get them ice cream, do paintings with them, built sand castles-

"The same grandpa El that takes everyone on carnival rides every Friday ?" I raised my eyebrows, I must be dreaming.

"Silly mom." Kiara giggled. "Not everyone, just me and Kai."

I looked at my dad who had an amused expression on his face. What the hell is going ?

"You saw the kitchen on your way in ?" I asked them and they nodded. "Go ask Mary to make something for you, I need to have a talk with grandpa El." I looked at my dad.

The twins stood up running out of the room.

"I was wondering when you'd finally come clean." My dad folded his arms, leaning back on the couch.

"Dad what is going on ?" I widened my eyes as the confusion failed to dissipate.

"I should ask you that question." He arched his eyebrows. "I wanted to see how long you would continue pulling this on.. my question was answered today."

"You knew ?"

"From day one." He answered simply. "Blue you think you could just dissapeare for a whole year with no contact and I would just lay around, unbothered like nothing's happening ?"

"Then why didn't you say anything ?!" My voice unintentionally raised, my eyes also widening. I sighed as I ran my hands through my hair. "I'm sorry I'm just- I.."

I'm a nerve wreck, I'm confused and I just don't understand anything.

My dad knew I was pregnant.

My dad knows I have kids.

All this time, all this energy put into hiding and lying, thinking he knew nothing.. I was only fooling myself. My dad knows everything... My dad knows everything... My dad kno-

"Blue you can lie to anyone in this world and go out of your way to keep a secret. And trust me you're good at it, i'mma give you that." He chuckled. "But you can't fool me, you know why ? Because you learnt every, little, thing, from me."

I swallowed my non existent saliva as I looked at him. I didn't even know how to respond or retort to that. My dad knows everything.

I let out a heavy breath. "Dad I'm sorry for lying to you, I really am."

"Not even an ounce of me is angry or disappointed." He shrugged his shoulders. "Proud ? Yes. You protected your kids by all means, even if it meant lying to me."

"That's what makes me proud to be your dad and what makes you worthy of taking over my legacy. You have guts Blue." He chuckled. "I don't know where you got the guts to lie to me for five whole years... But you're brave young lady."

I looked at the genuine expression on his face. To his words, he didn't look angry or disappointed. Impressed ? Yes.

Out of all the reactions I expected from him after coming clean, this was not it. I worried sick about telling my dad about my kids, and this is the reaction I get ? I'm really not complaining, but this just... took an unexpected turn.

"I was actually wondering how long you'd keep up with this lie." He smirked, arching his eyebrows. "Ten years ? Sixteen ?"

"And you would've actually continued pretending like you knew nothing ?"

"Exactly. It was really entertaining seeing you going out of your way to hide everything from me." He chuckled. "Meanwhile I was beating you at your own game, I also got a chance to spend time with my grandkids."

"This isn't a game. Dad you're so manipulative and conniving and-"

"Now you know where you got that from." He chuckled causing me to smile.

"And then grampa El ?"

"Well I needed a reason to spend time with Kiara and Kai without you knowing about it." He shrugged his shoulders. "And that's how grandpa El, the fun play ground manager was born."

I won't lie, I'm impressed. He literally beat me at my own game. He continued playing mind games with me while I was busy worried about lying and keeping secrets from him. He really is my dad.

I shaked my head in disbelief, looking at him. "No sane parent would've done this. Sometimes I really question your parenting skills."
