Open the Codex Part 2

Richie snickers.

"I mean...You seemed upset before Poseidon" he jokes before looking at his morpher "Okay Mirror. Saturn Ranger - Power Down!"

"Hm, so we have Crow, Mirror, Poseidon and Cupid here...hey! Only Ross needs to name his!" Melissa added "Venus Ranger - Power Down!"

"Mars Ranger - Power Down" Ross muttered, the flash of red de-morphing him.

"She is correct Ross Park, do you wish to give me a name?"

Ross stares at the morpher in thought.

"Well, one did come to mind while I was fighting. I was thinking - " he freezes, noticing his father's look.

The look in Adam's eyes, a stern glare...Ross looked back at his morpher and sighed.

"But ...it doesn't matter"

Richie raised an eyebrow.

"What do you mean Princey?"

Ross looked back at his father.

"I know...I went against your wishes Abeoji, I just...needed to be sure you were safe" he takes the morpher off, walking over and handing it to his father "You're safe now...so I'm...I'm sorry Abeoji"

Adam takes the morpher without a word, Richie looking between the two in confusion.

"Wait, the fuck are you giving up your morpher for?! You know you're like...better than all of us right?" he questions.

"I-It's okay! I'm really not that good, it was luck. I'm not cut out for rangering, I just wanted my dad safe and he's safe. I'm happy" Ross smiles.

But Richie doesn't believe it for a second as his best friend waves goodbye saying something about waiting outside for Adam and Richie. The other three rangers look at each other.

"...We should...sleep on this" Axel says quietly.

"Agreed" The pink ranger nods.

"At least we don't have to deal with Park getting a bigger head because he's wearing the colour red" Alisha huffed.

Richie gritted his teeth as they left the building before he turned to Adam.

"Adam, why didn't you stop him!?"

"I'm his father Richard. I know what's best for him. Skilled as Ross is, being a ranger ...he's not cut out for it"

"Bullshit! Don't you believe in your son!?"

"Of course I do"

"You're certainly not acting like it!" Richie yelled back "Ross did incredible out there, he's an adult you can't make this decision for him!"

Adam turned away, avoiding the new black ranger's gaze.

"He chose to give it back, I didn't ask"

"He did that because he knows you. He gave it back to not stress you out! I saw the look in his eyes, I know my friend, he didn't want to give that up!" He throws his hands up in frustration "I'm going to talk with him, Alguien tiene que recordarle que es su propia persona, ¡joder!"

[Someone needs to remind him that he is his own person, for fuck's sake!"

Richie stormed out of the command centre, leaving Adam to sit down in his chair and sigh.

"Alpha...am I doing the right thing?"

Alpha turned around, waddling over.

"You're acting out of love for him Adam, I know you mean well."

"That's not what I asked...am I doing the right thing?"

"...Ai yai yai...I...I think you need to let Ross make this choice himself. I know you don't know how to express your love otherwise, but sometimes..."

Adam groaned, covering his face.

"Maybe..."

I can't, I can't allow it. I refuse. I don't care how many people tell me I can't stop him, for as long as I'm still breathing I won't let Ross put his life in danger like that...

HIIIIII POSTING THIS BEFORE WORK WITH MUCH EXCITEMENT. EPISODE 2 OF POWER RANGERS CODEX.

I wonder if you expected this episode to go how it did? This is very fun to write, the slow build up to a proper team, who knows how this'll go...ehehehe only me~! You might notice more art this chapter, I had fun making art to go with it to help illustrate some of my points XD So you'll see a LOT of that in upcoming episodes!
