"Jimmy! Come on, we need to go!"

"Iʼm tired of this, Tango. We've been running away for the past 15 minutes!"

"I know, Jim, I know."

Alarms sounded as the laboratory was infiltrated by raiders; they had "unfinished business" with the scientists in it. While the raiders took the lives of mad people one by one, the people-who were called "tests", "examples", or "projects"-escaped from their rooms that would serve as their prison for who knows how long.

The sounds of men screaming and gunshots echoed in the hallways. Jimmy always hated the sounds of shouting, so he would run away to the closest friend in the area; the last time he did that was the reason he and Tango, the friend in question, got caught and taken to become scientists' play toys.

Jimmy stumbled on a gun that was lying next to one of the many dead raiders and hit his face on the floor.

"We could use this," Tango joked, taking the firearm from the ground and gazing at it while the blonde-haired Brit stood up, "AK-12, huh? Promising."

"Promising? That's a gun you're flailing around!" Jimmy exclaimed as the American searched the body next to his friend, eventually pulling out ammo for the rifle.

"Correction:" he paused to remove the current ammo case then applied the retrieved case of ammo to the rifle, "a loaded gun," he grinned mischievously.

"All of them went this way!"

"Shit, Jimmy run!" Tango told the scared Brit, and so he did without a cent worth of hesitation, his companion followed him very shortly after.

"I wanted to spend the age of 25 in London or something, not at a madman's playground!"

"Tell me about it; I wanted to spend the age of 28 at an office," he stared at Jimmy from behind, "I wonder what happened to that dream."

"Can you not? We are clearly in an attempt to escape, this is not the time to argue."

"Yeah, yeah. Left."

They both took the left corridor before a tune played, which lead to a woman announcing on speaker. "Lockdown will be in 10 minutes."

"Oh, fucking hell! Jimmy, we need-" he cut himself after realizing that Jimmy was on the verge of having a panic attack. He just stared at the speaker on the roof, standing still as he watched his happy memories flash before his eyes.

"I-I'm sorry," Jim muttered. "I didn't think that it would fuck us up that way."

Tango frowned at Jimmy's clear-as-day remorse. "Hey; it's not your fault, you needed comfort, everyone needs comfort once in a while. If you wanna stay alive, though, we have to run to the exit."

"Alright. Let's go."

6 minutes left on the clock, Jimmy tried the new powers that he got from the tests. It took him 13 seconds to fully open a portal to the outside.

"Did you seriously need to count the seconds?" Jim rolled his shoulders, slightly disturbed by the fact that his companion measured how much it takes for him to make a portal. "You may never know when we need it," Tango replied, shrugging and raising an eyebrow.

Once they reached the other side, Tango ran off into the woods, but Jim stayed in front of the rift he opened. "Jim?" Tango called out. "Is there something wrong?"

"I need to close it." He turned around to look at the portal and sighed. He closed his eyes as he struggled to get it to shut. And he eventually closed it

"7 seconds," Tango said while Jimmy became winded and knelt to lie down on the floor, facing the blue sky that he once used to never miss. "Can you not?!" He shouted, taking a breath between each word.

Tangoʼs smirk dropped as he heard rustling from close by, Jimmy, who was way past tired, immediately got up onto his feet, ready to fight. "You need to rest," Tango noticeably looked scared, "please."

Jimmy stared at Tango sadly, looking behind him and caught a glimpse of one of the many people trapped in the lab rise from the bushes.

"Look out!" Jimmy shouted in a second, turned to let Tango-who had his eyes closed-face the bushes, and they both were on the floor the next, with the Brit being above the American. Suddenly, Jimmy gasped for air. When Tango opened his eyes to see what happened, he became frightened. He felt like something was choking him, he couldn't breathe, and his vision started to become blurry.

Jimmy had a stalactite punctured into his left shoulder, flesh was visible, thanks to the piercing stalactite, through the white shirt he wore during the trials. Blood seeped from his body, following the texture and stony surface, making veins of red all over, eventually reacting to the tip and dripping. "13 seconds," Jimmy whispered, trying to make out a smile as much as possible before Tango abruptly went through the floor.

Jimmy created a portal behind him.

He's back home. On his bed.

"No," Tango's voice started to break, it hurt speaking at this point. "No, no, no, no, please." Jimmy mouthed out "I'm sorry", and then the portal closed. "Jimmy, no!" his voice cracked as he started to cry. He curled up on his side sobbing, wishing that it was he who took the stalactite to the shoulder.

Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you.

Tango still remembered how Jimmy sang that one song.

Sweet dreams that leave all your worries behind you.

How he smiled while singing it.

But in your dreams, whatever they may be

How his voice followed the chords like he was the one who made the song.

dream a little dream of me.

Dream a little dream of me.

Dream a little dream of me.
