But something told Maya the social worker wouldn't be the most helpful

A small blush tinted the teens cheeks at her foster moms comment as she shifted awkwardly on her feet not quite knowing what to say

"let me take those from you Bambina" Carina suggested reaching her hands for the washing the girl was holding, sensing how uncomfortable she was

"Oh, y-you don't have to, they're n-not that dirty"

Carina shook her head taken the pile of laundry form the girl, "nonsense Evelyn, I'll have them nice and clean for you and the tesoro for the morning"

"thanks" she smiled slightly, but use to this sort of treatment or care from any of her previous guardians

"There's no need to thank us Evie, but you can try and get some sleep for us, hm? It's getting late and I can see you can barely keep those eyes open"  Maya teased. It was true Evelyn was about to fall asleep standing up

"Mayas right, we'll leave you to get settled ok? And don't be afraid to come get us if you need anything ", and I mean anything, you know where our room is?"

Evelyn just nodded, not moving from her spot from beside the bathroom door

The couple were itching to hug the young girl goodnight and offer the comfort they could see she deseparately needed, but they had to stop and reminding themselves that it wasn't the time yet, they'd have to wait for Evelyn to be comfortable first. That was the most important thing.

"sweet dreams bambina",

"goodnight, sweets" her Forster parents called sending her one last smile before leaving the room to get ready for bed themselves

Evelyn released a sigh she didn't know she was holding as she made her way back over to the bed, trying her hardest to ignore the aching feeling in her ribs, thank you mr Attwell!, She slipped under the covers and snuggled closer to the toddler beside her waiting for the green light that Maya and carina had went to bed

she had alot to do before she could fall asleep

Mayas alarm rang at 6am the following morning and for the first time since her teen years the firefighter begged for sleep to overcome her again

She and her wife Carina had been up late in bed discussing how much their lives had changed in the matter of hours, as well as their worries for the teen and her child in the next room, carina calming her wife's own anxieties about becoming a mom— she couldn't be like lane she couldn't

—and their plans for the next day

Carina groaned from beside her shoving her face back into the silk pillow demanding she turned the alarm of or she'd have to face her Italian wrath

Maya laughed knowing better than to risk it, she leaned over after turning the dreadful noise to kiss the woman on her cheek "I'm going on a run", she said standing up to begin her usual morning routine

Quickly and quietly she threw on some workout clothes and stepped out of their shared bedroom, allowing her wife to have a couple more hours of much deserved sleep. Instead of heading straight downstairs like usual, Maya headed over to check on the two newest members of the Deluca-Bishop Family
