{Grian's POV}

"Hey, Gri!" A voice called from behind me.

I turned around and grinned. "Hey, Scar!"

He ran to catch up with me in the busy halls. "How was your break?"

"It was good. Pretty uneventful. How was yours?" I asked, leading him to the band room. It was better to hang out there before classes than in the cafeteria or gym, and since I played percussion, Scar could come with me.

He shrugged. "It was okay. Pretty boring. And I missed you and everyone else."

Scar was the most extroverted person I knew. Along with the kindest and funniest person I knew. I've never seen him be mean to anyone - unless one of his friends was offended by someone. Then you'd better watch out.

Mumbo, X, Xay, Iskall, and Hels were all in the band room. We engaged in the usual chaos; Hels and Xay causing trouble, Iskall occasionally joining in, and Mumbo and X standing off to the side wondering what was going on, along with Scar and I.

The warning bell rang and Iskall, Mumbo, and I went one way to our lockers and Scar, X, Xay, and Hels went the other. "See you at lunch, Gri!" Scar called as we went our separate ways. I waved in reply.

Mumbo and Iskall were talking about something, but I tuned out their conversation. I'll be honest now - Scar and I are a little more than just friends. We confessed our feelings for each other about four months ago but haven't gotten much further. I kept worrying that I was holding Scar back - that he wants to go further but I'm keeping him from doing that with my stupid boundaries.

"G?" I blinked and drew myself out of my thoughts. I'd auto piloted my way through the general motions of going to my locker and putting my stuff.

"Sorry, Mumbo, what did you say?" I asked with a small sheepish smile.

"I asked if you were okay. You seemed lost in your thoughts."

"Oh. Yeah. I'm fine." We walked to first period and went about our day.

Other than being worried all day about Scar and mine's relationship the day was pretty uneventful. I kept zoning out during class, preoccupied with trying to figure out how to pose the question to Scar. Damn, I was not enjoying being demiromantic right now.

After school was over and I was done with my homework, I walked to the park near our apartment complex. I climbed to the top of the slide and sat there. There weren't a lot of kids in our neighborhood anymore, so the park was normally deserted.

I hadn't even noticed someone else was there until I heard someone climbing below me. I looked down and met the emerald eyes of Scar.

He climbed up and sat next to me in silence. "You alright, Gri? You were a little out of it today."

I sighed, breathing out all of my stress. "Not really."

He tilted his head. "Want to talk about it?" he asked softly. Wow, was he handsome.

I turned the idea over in my head for a few minutes. Scar didn't show any sign of impatience, which I took as a good sign. "Okay. Sure." I paused for another minute before blurting out, "Scar, am I holding you back?"

He gave me a confused look. "What do you mean?"

"With our relationship. Or whatever we're calling it. Am I holding you back? With my boundaries and stuff? Do you want to move faster than I'm allowing you to?" I asked, all of it coming out in a rush.

There was a brief pause. Scar hesitantly put his arm around my shoulders. "Gri, you will never 'hold me back'. We can walk, we can run, we can jog, we can crawl, I don't care. Whatever you're ready for. If you want to go faster, then we can go faster. Trust me, Gri. I have never once considered your boundaries as stupid or unnecessary and I never will. When you're ready to change speeds, tell me, and we can switch speeds. Tell me when you're uncomfortable and I'll change what I'm doing, alright?"

I smiled. "Thanks, Scar. And you tell me if you're uncomfortable too. This is a two way thing, after all."

He grinned. "I will. Don't worry."

I rested my head on his shoulder and we sat there in silence for a while, watching the sunset slowly.

"Can I say something, Gri?"

"Of course."

"I think... I think I love you."

I don't think my face had ever been redder. A smile spread across my face. "Can I say something too, Scar?"

"Absolutely."

"I think I love you too."

Not my best work, but it's Scarian fluff, so it's worth it.

Hope you enjoyed, see you in the next one!
