"A goldfish ?" He asked with what I could decipher as either confusion or amusement.

"Yes, by the end of today."

"Okay.. I'll try."

"Don't try. Do it."

"Okay Blue, where the hell will I get a goldfish ?"

"A fair. Where else ?!" I impatiently asked running my hands through my hair.

"Are you serious right now ?"

"Yes, pleasee Adrian." I pleaded. "What if the one from the shop is different ? I need one of those you win at the fair."

"How does it matter?- you know what? I don't even wanna know." He sighed heavily. "Meet me at the warehouse in four hours to get it."

"Oh my gosh you're the best. Thank you." I smiled and heard him release a chuckle before hanging up.

My phone vibrated at before I could put it away. My heart pounding furiously in my chest as I looked at the caller ID.

I hate his call. He never calls with good news.

"Dr Gordon." I replied sitting on the bed. "I assume the results are out ?"

"Yes." He sighed. "Things are not looking good Blue. Her lenses are becoming more and more cloudy and her vision is blurring up."

"Like I told you before, Cataracts are one of the most treatable conditions, which without surgical intervention, can cause blindness." He explained. "She needs surgery Blue, as soon as possible."

As much as the thought of my daughter getting surgery scares the shit out of me, I can't run away from it anymore. I've been trying to avoid her getting surgery for so long now.. and now her condition is getting worser. I don't think I can ever forgive myself if Kiara became permanently blind because I was scared of her getting surgery.

"Okay." I let out a heavy breath. "It's fine, we'll do the surgery. When are you available ?"

"Unfortunately, I'm not in the country right now." He replied. "I have back to back surgeries in Italy for the whole month. I'll be back in Mayville next month."

"Will she be able to make it to the next month without being.. you know.. blind." I hesitated saying the last word.

"I cannot guarantee you that. I don't have the exact date or time, it's up to you to decide if you're willing to take the risk and wait."

"I'm not waiting any longer and I only trust you with my daughter's health. Will you be able to perform the surgery if I fly to Italy?"

I wasn't trying to make things more difficult than they already were, but if I was gonna let my guard down and agree for my daughter to get surgery, it had to be done by one of the best opthalmologists in the world. I was already having anxiety about this, and getting a doctor I don't know was only gonna make things worse.

"Yes. I was gonna recommend a doctor from that side. But since you're persistent on having me perform it, we can make it work."

"Thank you." I sighed. "I'll book the earliest flight."

"I'll be expecting you. Goodbye." He said before hanging up.

From the day Kiara was diagnosed, three years ago, I knew this day would come. I knew it would get to this sooner or later. No matter how much I tried preventing this surgery from happening, I knew there would be one day when stopping it from happening would be impossible. I'm anxious, worried, scared, nervous.. but this isn't about me. It isn't about how I feel about this. It isn't even about how Kiara feels. It's about her living a normal life, it's about her not loosing her vision, it's about her not loosing her happiness, it's about preventing my daughter from getting blind. It's about doing what's best for her.

I threw my phone on the bed and headed out of my bedroom door to the playroom. I got inside the playroom and thankfully found her alone. She was sitting on her table set having a tea party with all her dolls and stuffed animals occupying the chairs.

"We had a dilieful morning at your house Miss Fur." She continued talking to her "guests".

I chuckled. "It's delightful baby."

"Delif-deli." She huffed, giving up.

"Ms Fur and Elly at the same table ?" I asked as I got inside. "I thought they were having a fight ?"

"They are, they have been saying bad words at each other." She shaked her head looking at the stuffed elephant and the teddy bear with too much fur. "Ms Fur even to poured hot tea on Elephant's face."

"I think you should just vote her out of the club. She has problems with everyone." I said as I joined her and sat down on the small chair, removing Ms Fur in her seat.

"It's not her fault though, she is not happy marriage." She said taking the toy kettle. "Tea?"

Is my daughter four? Cause she sure talks like she's eleven..

"Yes please." I smiled and she poured me "tea".

"Problems in her marriage you say ?" I asked taking a sip of the imaginary tea.

"Yes, she and Piglet fight everyday. He wants her to cut off all her fur, can you imagine that ?" She narrowed her eyes, flipping her hair.

"No, way!"

"It's true. But we can't kick her out, we have to be her friend. When someone is having a bad day, we should be kind to them."

"Wow.. Mr piglet is not very nice.. Anyways Kiara." I said remembering why I came here. "I came here to tell you something. Dr Gordon called."

"Mmh ?" She stopped filling everyone's cups with tea, turning her attention to me.

"Remember mommy said you might need to get surgery for your eyes ?"

"Is it time ?" She asked and I nodded.

"When am I doing it ?" She smiled.

I looked at her, like really look at her. Maybe she doesn't understand what surgery is.

"Baby you do know what surgery is right ?" I asked, dumbfounded by her happy expression.

"Yes mom you told me." She let out a small chuckle. "They'll put me to sleep, clean my eyes, then when I'm done, I won't need glasses anymore right ?"

"Yeah." I smiled relieved of the way she's taking everything.

"I just want to stop wearing glasses." She said lowly looking at the floor.

"You will baby. Three days from now, we're getting rid of them." I smiled at her and she reciprocated.

"Hear that Poodles ? You'll be the only one wearing glasses in this house."
