I pressed the gate's remote control when I heard Kenny's car pull over.

Moments later I heard the door open and the usual noise of this house was back. Kai and Kiara got inside the dining room with their faces covered in paint.

I paused the movie holding them closer as they excitedly came to hug me. "You're a very beautiful butterfly." I said Kiara and looked at Kai trying to figure what was drawn in his face. Is it a cat ? "And you're a very handsome cat."

"We missed you so much mom." Kai said as they sat with me on the couch. He didn't correct me, so it is a cat.

"I missed you too." I chuckled. "What did you do today ?" I asked and Kenny came inside the dining room sitting on the opposite couch.

"We went to the Zoo, we saw monkeys." Kiara said excitedly.

"And lions, tigers, zebras." Kai smiled. "And pigs and elephants and girrafes."

"We saw many animals." Kiara added. "We also went to dad's house and baked cupcakes, we brought them for you. Did you know dad can bake ?"

I nodded looking at Kenny who was lovingly looking at the twins, while I remembered the times he baked cupcakes for me.

"Tomorrow we're going to the beach." Kiara continued.

"You're taking them again ?" I raised my eyebrows at him.

"Yeah, if you don't mind."

"No, it's fine." I sighed. "Why don't you take them for the weekend ? I mean you already have plans, so it will be less convenient if you don't drop them off in the evening."

"Are you sure ?" Kenny asked and I nodded looking at the twins.

"How would you guys feel about spending the weekend at your dad's ?" I directed my question to them.

"We're going to sleep there ?" Kiara asked and I replied with a yes. "Without you ?"

I nodded just realising this might not happen. The twins have never slept without me, let alone sleep in a house that wasn't this one. I looked at Kai who also had the same expression that proved me right.

"Why don't you come with us ?" She said like she had just solved the world's problems.

"I-"

"Yeah dad can mom come with us ?" Kai interrupted looking at Kenny.

"Uhh.." He uttered, the both of us looking at each other.

"It would be so much fun. Please mom ?" Kiara continued and they both looked at me expectantly.

"I can't baby."

"Pleaseee mom. Why can't you come with us ?"

I sighed as I looked at Kenny, hoping he'd help me out.

"I don't mind if you don't." He shrugged his shoulders.

"See mom ? Dad also wants you to come with us. Pleaseee." Kai pouted.

I looked between the three of them, not liking this idea one bit. I was probably the last person Kenny wanted to spend the night in his house. But he made a compromise nonetheless. "Okay." I replied and the twins jumped excitedly, screaming causing the both of us to chuckle.

"I'll go pack your stuff." I stood up from the couch putting on my sleepers.

"We already have stuff at dad's house." Kiara said.

"Yes mom, you should see our room."

"Okay." I chuckled. "I'll go take mine then." I went up the stairs to my room.
