"Hi." I responded as he got inside and we headed to the dining room.
"I.." He trailed off looking at my body then tried to look anywhere but my direction.
I was fucking half naked. Why didn't I change the swimsuit ?! I mentally face palmed myself. I was standing here, wet hair, water still trailing all over my body with just a bra and bikini. Well.. it's nothing he hasn't seen before.
"Uhh.. I'll just go and change." I pointed my wet body, which caused his eyes to trail back there. Bad idea. "Kai and Kiara are outside in the pool." I pointed the dining room sliding door.
I heard him release a nervously heavy breath as he nodded looking at the sliding door. Was he nervous ? a whole Mafia leader nervous about meeting his kids. Ironic but cute.
I watched as Kenny went out the sliding doors before turning and going upstairs to my room.
I decided to have a shower just to give the three of them time together, alone. Kenny finally being able to form a bond with his son and daughter, my kids finally getting to meet their dad, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I've never shown any pictures of Kenny to Kiara and Kai, they don't even know how their father looks like. Although the kids don't even know they're with their dad, I feel like I did something right for once in my life. I feel like I didn't fail them in some type of way.
I got out of the shower after drying myself and got inside the walk-in closet. I put on a grey tank top and black leggings, white socks and slippers. I went out the room, going down the stairs to the dining room sliding door.
An instant smile on my face when I looked outside. Kiara was sitting on the deck talking to Kenny who bent down to her level.
It was the first time I saw a smile across his face ever since the aquarium five years ago, a genuine smile. Kenny chuckled at something Kiara said and looked at Kai's direction asking him something. Kai who was still inside the pool nodded without looking his way.
I looked through the glass doors as Kai silently played inside the water, not wanting to be part of their conversation. Something was wrong, I could see it in his eyes.
Yes, Kai didn't like strange men around us and he thought Kenny was a stranger. But he wouldn't have been reacting like this if that was the problem. He would've never even allowed Kiara be close to Kenny. He would've tried to get rid of Kenny, be rude and mean to him.
But now, it's like he's completely turned into a different personality of his. He looks distant and he's unusually quite. I need to find out what's wrong with my son.
"It's getting pretty late, come on you guys need to get inside." I helped Kai out the pool as Kenny picked Kiara from the deck, as she laughed at something they were talking about.
"Are you okay ?" I asked him and he nodded. Now I knew he wasn't okay.
The four of us got inside and I gave them towels to dry their hair.
"I was about to make supper and-"
"You ?" Kenny raised his eyebrows in suprise, interrupting me.
"Yes me, what's got you so suprised ?" I folded my arms.
"No nothing." He quickly shaked his head. "And they actually eat it ?"
"What are you trying to say ?" I narrowed my eyes, looking at him with.
He chuckled turning to the twins who were busy drying their hair. "Kiara do you like your mom's cooking ?"
"Uhh..." She looked between the two of us.
"I thought it was Yada's turn to cook today." She said and I looked at her wide eyed. "I don't mean that when you cook it's-"
"It's what ?"
"Awful." Kenny mumbled and I glared at him. "I'm just saying, I'll cook."
I rolled my eyes as I led him to the kitchen and just on time Yvonne walked in with a ton of plastic bags.
"I wonder who this mystery man is." I teased her as she put the groceries on top of the counter.
"For the hundredth time, there's no mystery man. I was out doing grocery shopping."
"The whole day ?" I asked and her cheeks turned crimson red as she blushed. "Oh my gosh!! I was right, there is a man!" My eyes and mouth widened in shock and she chuckled rolling her eyes.
"Leave the groceries, I'll unpack them. I just need you to give the little trouble makers a bath. You're telling me about this man tonight." I told her and she got out of the kitchen laughing.
I turned to look at Kenny who was already looking at me, smirking, with his eyebrows raised. "Get that stupid smug off your face." I went to the plastic bags as he chuckled.
I knew this was the opportunity to finally have "the talk." Lay everything on the table and maturely communicate.
