Grayson's POV
I got out of work early today & I decided to take advantage of this since my mom had Aidan & Mel was home.
I had to go the mall & I brought Ethan along because I had to tell him a big secret.
As I got to the mall, I dragged Ethan to this jewelry store.
As I looked around Ethan looked at me.
"What are doing here?" He asked.
I looked at him with a big smile.
"I need to tell you something, something big." I said.
"W-what?" He said confused.
I smiled even bigger at the thought of it.
"Well, I've been thinking long & hard about this. I talked to mom & dad about & now I know what I want to do. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while now but I feel right now is the best time to do it."
Ethan looked at me very puzzled & confused.
"What are you talking about, Gray?" Ethan asked.
I took a deep breath & smiled.
"I want to propose to Mel." I said.
Ethan's jaw dropped for a sec.
"And I wanted to ask you if you would be my best man at the wedding." I added.
Then he smiled.
"Grayson, I would be honored to. I'm so happy for you. If you really wanna do this then I will be there. No matter what." He said.
I smiled much bigger.
"Thank you. I can't believe it. I'm gonna marry her soon." I said with a smile.
"When are you gonna ask her?"
"Next week, on her birthday. Wanna see the ring?"
Ethan nodded in happiness.
I asked the guy at the counter that I was here to pick up the ring I put on hold.
The guy went to get & came back.
It was inside a little black box.
I opened it & showed Ethan.
"It's perfect, Gray. I'm so happy for you, buddy." He said & hugged me.
"It's gonna happen soon. And then I will be with her & Aidan."
Ethan kept admiring the ring.
We left the store & I drove Ethan back home.
When I got there, Ethan stayed to take care of Aidan while my parents & I had to do something. Something that I was ready to do.
I wanted to ask Melanie's parents for their permission to marry Mel.
My mom called Mel's mom to tell her we were coming over.

When we got there, I knocked on her door. Mel's mom opened & was shocked to see I came along.
"Grayson." Her mom said.
"May I come in?" I asked.
"Sure." She said with a weak smile as she let me & my parents in.
We all sat down in their living room.
"What brings you guys here today? Is Melanie okay?" She asked worried.
"She is fine." I replied.
"And Aidan?" She asked.
"He's perfect."
She gave another weak smile.
"But I'm actually here today to ask for you your blessing." I said confidently.
"For what?" Her mom asked slowly.
I sighed.
"I want to marry your daughter." I said.
"Oh, Grayson." Her father said.
"I want to be with Melanie. She is just perfect & I adore her. I promise to take care of her."
She stared at me with the kindest & softest eyes. Her dad looked at me.
I got closer.
"Please, let me marry your daughter."
Her mom smiled & held my hand.
"Of course, Grayson. You have our blessing." She replied.
I smiled. I reached into my pocket.
"This is the invitation to Mel's birthday dinner. I'm gonna propose there." I said handing it to her dad.
"Will Aidan be there?" Her dad asked.
"Yes. You guys can meet him there." I said with a smile.
Her mom stood up. She gave me the biggest hug.
"Thank you, Grayson. Not only for the invitation & asking for our permission. But for taking care of Melanie all this time."
"My pleasure." I said with a smile before I walked out of there with the biggest smile.
I got the ring, I got her parents' blessing. All I need is a yes from her. Just a yes.
